Recommended reading. Our own CJ places the brouhaha over the lowest first week sales for the Musumes in perspective. Point number four strikes me as the most salient, though my guess is UFA hoped that the Singles album would spur sales for the single instead of tamping it down.

Like CJ, I’m not worried: as long as H!P is a boutique industry with a small but dedicated fan base, their sales can drop to the low twenty thousands and they’ll still be economically viable. This is especially true if other units perform on par with Momusu. After all, that many wota spending just a hundred bucks a month should keep H!P in the black – and I’m sure a significant number of wota spend considerably more.
