Recommended reading. Well, this is both surprising and… not. Anyways, IndigoSkies of lurking is saddened by this news, Gemma of H!pF thinks they’re all going to be soloists, while Sarah of the Sauce is wondering how Yui turning 20 figures into this. Just Another thinks this is due to a focus on Wonderful Hearts, and most everyone is concerned about what will happen to Erika and Yui.
The tone of these early posts is quite telling: surprise but not passionate shock, a few comments about liking their early singles best, and hopes that they get a proper send-off release-wise. No wailing or gnashing of teeth as with Gocchin’s sudden departure, and some comfort that Rika’s already got a safe berth in Ongaku Gatas (which I suspect fit into the grand scheme behind this announcement).

I’ve seen plenty of wailing/gnashing of teeth on the big H!P boards…but then again that happens on those boards every time an announcement like this happens. I used to like Biyuuden a lot, my favorite song of theirs is Ajisai Ai Ai Monogatari…but they sort of lost doinkies along the way, not that I didn’t like them but they became a sort of B-level group for me. Considering their sales have been doinky compared to their earlier sales, I could see why they would disband.
Since Rika still has a large fanbase I’m sure she’ll be very active in H!P in some capacity but I don’t know about Erika and Yui either. For all I know they might leave H!P in the future and become gravure idols or something…but I don’t see them as being soloists, I bet they’ll be placed in some new group or something. But then they might become Z-level members like Ayaka and Maeda Yuki…
