Recommended reading. Santos muses on the idea of yakuza getting involved with idols, then passes along two news stories that seem to indicate such involvement. There’s no real confirmation of yakuza, Santos is just reading between the lines, but the leap isn’t that far to make.
I especially like the part about the glue.

I believe it was the Yakuza that eventually killed Johnny Mnemonic.
