Why I’m Tired Of Idols Like Aibon
Yoshimi gives us a conversation she had with Vulpi on instant messager recently, and the talks revovle around H!P idols: JunJun, Maasa, Sayu and Riena mostly, amongst other mentions. Whilst I shouldn’t be one to judge, it’s certainly inviting judgements. Regardless of you agreeing or not though, this sort of thing is a nice, personal look into Yoshimi and indeed Vulpi. The tone translates – for me at least – as being rather serious, and it’s clear that both take idolizing – or whatever – seriously, too. It’s nice to see the depth of that in this conversation, although I’m not going to go into hyperbole about it. It’s a conversation on IM and not a novel. Anyway, concerns over JunJun and some praising for Sayu are included. All these types of posts have me scratching my head though. To be honest, away from my blogs, even in regards to talking to other J-bloggers, I tend to stay off topic and am more interested if, for example, Broomhead was able to take any good city-shots with his camera yesterday etc. Maybe it’s just me though. A good, sometimes thoughtful insight into H!P idols.
A preivous post – perhaps brought on by Broomhead’s recent survey – has Yoshimi going through the politics of why she blogs, her style, and why it’s that way exactly. The writing has a good dexterity about it, and Yoshimi’s self-analysis is well-written, thoughtful, quite likable and sometimes relatable. The perfect ingredients for a post of this nature. Recommended reading.
An even earlier post deals with the concept of being an idol, I suppose. About how certain idol images, or idol types could actually be damaging to the person behind the visage. It’s a debate with many greys, and Yoshimi’s argument doesn’t push me to think otherwise. There’s a good case here, certainly for the problems with stereotyping, and idols working to that effect. I don’t know. There’s a lot here and I’m tired and in need of my after-work nap. Regardless of my srambled brain though, it’s a nice thought-piece to get your teeth into.
