[REVIEW] Morning Musume – Platinum 9 Disc (Conflict Productions)
If you don’t count “Cover You”, it has been two years since the last Morning Musume full-length release. Here is another set of opinions on their new album…
OnDiet reviews the non-single tracks, and gives each song a “one phrase” thought such as “epic”, “odd”, and “sexy” Unlike in the previous set of reviews, she likes both Aika and Sayu’s’s solo efforts, and of course she is totally enamored with Kataomoi no Owari ni. But although it is an Eri-worship blog, Risa’s performance here gets the best review. OnDiet feels she totally outsung Reina and Ai on Jounetsu no Kiss wo Hitotsu.
Greg wondered if the new tracks would make the album worth purchasing. He notes a transition from the traditional Genki style to a more Urban Contemporary feel. After hearing them on two different tracks, he feels that Ai, Risa and Reina would make a great sub-unit! Now there’s a thought…And his answer to his opening question is a resounding YES!
Amyrulez starts his review with the album cover itself. He likes the cute outfits, but he hates the wigs! I have to admit that their hairstyles do look pretty strange. As for the music, he feels this is the “‘Perfect Platinum album’” Some of his favorites include Jounetsu no Kiss and Kataomoi no Owari ni…, but my favorite part of the review is his take on the title of Guruguru Jump, and what the Malay translation might look like, Bwahahaha!
Siggy also notices how much different this album sounds from MoMusu’s previous efforts. He gives it a seven out of ten. However most of his positive feedback is for the single tracks. The new songs don’t fare as well. He did like Jounetsu no Kiss, but the three solo songs were not among his favorites, to say the least!
So to summarize it seems like SONGS is a winner, as are the Ai/Risa/Reina tracks. Eri’s solo gets the best feedback. Aika’s not so much. As for Guruguru Jump and It’s You…well, at least they get you smiling. For better or worse.
