MEG – BEAUTIFUL [6th Studio Album] (Amai Wana)

Whether she looks the part is up for debate, but either way, MEG’s sixth album BEAUTIFUL has arrived, and both solarblade and Amaiyume have provided reviews on it.

Solarblade from Kurayami Monogatari likes the album, but feels that it was actually a step down from her previous album, STEP, claiming that it was too safe and had less memorable tracks compared to the previous album, and stating it as a grower instead of an instant favorite. However, there are a few surprises that keep it from total mediocrity, such as the bouncy, music-fronted SKIN.

Amaiyume from Amai Wana, however, had the opposite view. He calls it a step-up from both of her previous Nakata-produced efforts, and considers it a good way to showcase both MEG and Nakata’s skills, as well as being more interesting due to the heavy use of English lyrics. The stand-out here is also SKIN, and is cited as “the best that BEAUTIFUL has to offer”. However, the small amount of tracks is cited as a disappointment here, albeit a small one.
