Hello! project – Butt shot! volume 1

The magnificent bastard better known as Shirow of Wotaku Now! poses a question: why exactly is it that we look at photobooks of idols, hmm? Well, the reasons are plentiful but his answer to his own question is, I quote, “to view the beautiful scenery and lovely photographs of girls.” That’s probably not too far off from general consensus, don’t you think?

People might like to see what kind of feelings idols can portray in different settings. Some fans might like them for the cutesy poses or outfits, others for the silly antics of the girls, perhaps some even for the sheer artistic quality of the pictures. Hell, I’m sure there’s even one or two messed up inviduals who are genuinely into the landscape off-shots the most! As for me? You’ll think I’m weird, but damn if the shots of the girls devouring all sorts of edible treats isn’t the best part.

But no, that’s all wrong. Well, save for the ‘edible‘ part perhaps. What Shirow has prepared for us today in loving fashion is a digital photobook filled with nothing but delicious Hello! Project asses. That’s right, a full-on butt assault! Shirow quickly admits his initial answer is a lie; the real reason why all people — regardless of age, gender or level of disgustingness — look at photobooks? It’s obvious! Of course, “to look at sexy idols in various states of undress.”

Having just looked through this magnificent photobook I must say I quite enjoyed it indeed, but I don’t think I’d bother buying it. Sorry Shirow, but I have more uses for a sticky keyboard than I do for a sticky photobook.
