Japanator interview exclusive: Kalafina (Japanator)
Zac had the opportunity to interview Kalafina during their recent appearance at Anime Boston, and as a special treat Japanator’s readers also contributed to the questions for the group. If you are not familiar, the now three-member group Kalafina formed two years ago and primarily performs the theme music for the anime Kara no Kyoukai. They discuss what it’s like to work with famed composer Yuki Kajiura, their experience of performing in America, tips for keeping their voices in tune and the future of the band beyond the anime.
What I especially enjoyed about this interview was Kalafina’s openness with the Western media. We are starting to see a lot more one-on-one’s coming our way, and it is marking a turning point in the industry. I am also happy that the interview turned me on to yet another cool band. I had heard Kajiura’s previous project Fiction Junction before, and really liked it. Jeez, I guess I should be reading IW a bit more. It’s not like we haven’t been covering them for a while now! As Zac promises, it is a great read for both Kalafina’s fans and newbies to the group!
