”This Is The One” isn’t quite the one

Utada – This Is The One (Channel-Ai Community Blog)

Utada Hikaru’s American dream falls flat yet again, only this time the reasons are easily quantifiable. A highly regarded artist on home soil, Utada sells her soul to produce what is, essentially, a brainless wish-wash of cheap music and even cheaper ideas. A poor man’s American idol? Perhaps, and there‘s something very amusing about that. Anyway, Sljinu does an excellent job at describing all that is wrong with This Is The One. There’s plenty to joke or cry about – depending on your disposition – but Sljinu admits to a few graces on the album, even if they’re not nearly enough to save face.
