The Twilight of Hello! Project (Delicious Cake Project)
That’s the question Pata addresses in this post. This is the second year in a row that Tsunku and the gang haven’t been invited to NHK’s end of the year music bash. Pata sees this as the Kouhaku producers finally acknowledging an overdue end of an era. Although I agree with what Pata is saying here, it seems as if the producers currently see the female idol groups similarly to the way the Academy sees comedic film. “You better be amazing or we aren’t inviting you to the party!”
That said, Pata concludes the post with a fitting tribute to the organization that has given us more than eleven years of amazing entertainment. He also ponders what the idol world would be like if it weren’t for Tsunku and his 50,000 CD challenge. Yeah, it’s safe to say that most of us wouldn’t be here right now! And for Pata’s final “exclamation point”…
At the end of the day as much as it is an honor to be invited to Kouhaku Uta Gassen, the show itself ain’t all that hip!

I always have mixed feelings about stuff like this, well not mixed feelings exactly but I’m never sure how to react. I’m sure plenty of bands have survived for years without performing at Kouhaku, and with all the speculation that surrounds Momusu and rumours of disbanding this really could mean very little.
I’d heard that they were meant to be attending though so obviously this isn’t good news, I’m still more than a bit tentative on thinking this is the end though; it’s too easy a bandwagon to jump on board of.
