my life – alan (What is DISCO?)
alan – my life (Beyond the Sea)
alan – my life (Kurayami Monogatari)
alan: my life (stylejapan)
The verdict is in: alan’s sophomore album sucks balls. I don’t think I’ve read a positive review of it yet! This is actually a bit weird, because I think it’s pretty difficult to find an album that everyone has an agreeing opinion on*, but alan has managed to accomplish that! Selryam, Noah, Lex, and solarblade all think that her debut album, Voice of EARTH, was much better than my life.
Selryam (What is DISCO?) pointed out that this is another example of it being a bad idea for an artist to release two albums in a year; I’m actually a bit interested in this theory and I’m probably going to look through all my albums after this and see if his idea holds true. Moving on, Lex (Beyond the Sea) is seriously disappointed with alan’s work, but on the bright side, she’s trying new things. It just so happens that those new things suck. Next, solarblade (Kurayami Monogatari) gives a full TBT review of my life (I can’t imagine how excruciating that writing process must have been) and he thinks alan needs to ditch her producer ASAP. The general disappointment hanging around this album is starting to make me feel really bad, actually; does alan know what she’s done?
Last, but certainly not least, I think Noah (stylejapan) managed to sum up my life pretty well in one sentence:
This time around, it’s not about serious issues, there’s no poetic lines, no gorgeous choruses or heartbreaking melodies; it’s just having fun and doing nothing but daydreaming in a World that doesn’t exist.
Let’s hope alan comes to her senses for her next release, but let’s be honest here–can she really disappoint us after this mess?
* Yes, I know that four reviews does not equal the opinion of every person who has listened to my life, but I haven’t seen any reviews besides these four, so I’m basing the general opinion on them. Congratulations alan, you’re four for four on bad reviews!

I haven’t heard anyone like this album so far, so I doubt that any positive reviews will appear any time soon.

☆☆☆ and Kirarin☆Land were released the same year, and the latter is my favorite album of all time. Then again, a variety of people were responsible for the creative content of those albums, rather than a handful, so I dunno.

The “having 2 albums in the same year” statement is dumb but irregardless, I have seen plenty of other negative comments concerning my life. It’s definitely not just us 4 reviewers. ;D

Okay, that two in one year comment seems to have been taken wrong by everyone.
Do note that I wasn’t talking about EVERY case of two albums released in one year, though a lot of the time, if it does happen, the latter ends up being total shit anyway. Of course it wouldn’t relate to EVERY case, though I probably should’ve been clearer about that. I’ve seen enough evidence to prove in my eyes that it REALLY doesn’t help though.
So, yeah, not wrong, you just read it wrong.

I don’t think you can really argue that someone’s opinion is wrong by saying your own opinion is right. Just sayin’.
also, irregardless is not a word.

I hate to agree with you but this album really is a big disappointment, especially compared to her debut album. Most of the tracks on “my life” are kinda mediocre, save for “Kuon no Kawa” and “Ballad” (which fit into “Voice of EARTH” much better than “my life” IMHO). I’m hoping this album will grow on me once I give it more listening to, but I highly doubt it.

you guys….alan has put in lots hard work into this album, such criticism…isnt it too much? i mean cmon “it sucks”?! she deserves much more credit than that>.> imo: my life is a beautiful beautiful album. there’s life in it.
so why all the hate? i dont understand and dont plan to-.-

Ok, compare it to Voice of EARTH and you’ll understand why most people think this album failed

I don’t think the album sucks, infact I started to love it after a few times of intense listening to, but I do feel like she’s kinda leaving he old music style… Song’s like “Garden of Dreams”, “BRAVE”, and “Ultramarine Valley” are what really got me hooked on her music
