I’m not the only one who loves awards season, right? I love to vote for my favorite songs and albums! The only problem is, I can never just choose ONE. Morningtime brings us a poll on what the best Hello!Project single of 2009 is, and I had the hardest time picking! I mean, how do you even define “best”? Highest sales? Best whole package (PV, b-sides, cover art, amount of solo lines Suzuki Airi gets, outfits)? Or just plain quality of the a-side? I ended up choosing Nanchatte Renai because I think it embodies all of these (well, except Airi coverage–I’ll forgive them for that.)! Nanchatte Renai sold a lot more than past/recent MM singles, the outfits are adorable, and I just love the song itself! But this is definitely not an advertisement for the single I chose, I want to know what you all chose (and why)!

We also have another upcoming award/poll coming from Noah at stylejapan! His covers all artists active in Japan this year, not only H!P, so I’m really excited to see the results! He has eight categories for us to vote in, but voting hasn’t started yet. He is currently asking us to nominate artists for each of the categories (in the comments) and he also has examples and guidelines for who is eligible. I feel guilty for not being able to think of too many artists outside of H!P to vote for, but I’m definitely thinking Perfume and Ikimono Gakari for my votes! Which is another great part of awards season: new artists to listen to who have proven that they’re good enough to win an award!
