Mikki in Tensou Sentai Goseiger (Miracle Sexy Dynamite)

Sentai is a long-running tokusatsu franchise that has been around since the 70s – the western world might know it better as the original Japanese version of Power Rangers. Every year, one series runs for an entire year, usually February to February, featuring all new characters and plots. The main cast for the 2010 series has been announced, including Mikki from Nice Girl Project as GoseiYellow! Juju brings the j-pop blogosphere the news, and has the first 15-second promo for the show, featuring a very cute shot of Mikki with the actor playing her character’s older brother in the series, Hamao Kyousuke.

Lately, tokusatsu has been bringing in a lot of young actors/actresses to play the main roles, including members of various idol groups- the current 2009 sentai, Shinkenger, stars Morita Suzuka from Idoling!!! as ShinkenYellow; Itano and Kasai from AKB48 have regular roles in the currently-running Kamen Rider W; and in the past there have been way too many members of male idol groups, such as D-BOYS and PureBOYS, to list here. The main actors/actresses get promoted heavily during their year, and many go on to become really popular after the series is over, so this is really good news for Mikki! And I still think it’s only a matter of time before H!P gets someone in one of these series…
