I totally agree with that, I’m absolutely 100% sure that most of these girls have boyfriends, but they just keep it quiet. It’s easier for AKB, they’re a big idol group, but not on the level of H!P (yet :D) so they don’t have to worry so much about paparazzi, but no, it’s her boyfriend’s huge mouth that doomed poor Ayarin…

P.S. As doinkies says, a lot of idols probably have boyfriends. After all, if a girl is as pretty and charming as idols are supposed to be, boys who meet her in real life will be attracted to her. The girls who get kicked out for having boyfriends are being punished not for the relationship itself but for being found out.
