About

I guess I should talk a bit about myself and the raison d’etre of this blog, right? But I won’t because that would be long and boring, and who likes long and boring, right? So I’ll just keep it to the basics

Name: Cat

Sex: Female

Location: Bogota, Colombia

Lives with: A cousin who runs away from me everytime I try to shove any Jpop in her face, my kitten Mai <3

Occupation: I study medicine. I’ve never known how do you say that in proper english, but you all get the point right?

Likes: Looking at the sky, dandelions, kittens, dogs, laughing at stupid macros, music, being home, dancing, singing, cookies, cake, reading about Jpop, ANYTHING AKB related, mushrooms <3, Ruby Gloom,  shopping for useless things, cute clothes, sleeping.

Dislikes: Shifts, OB/GYN… I can’t think of anything else right now XD

Favorite music genre: I listen to a fair number of genres, actually. I’m very fond of rock and techno, I think those are my favorites, I’m completely illiterate when it comes to the history, subgenres and whatnot, though. However, the thing that sparks my interest the most, enough to make me waste spend lots of my free time watching the same video repeatedly and screencapping until my fingers go numb is Jpop. I’ve been into Jmusic ever since I was some 9 - 10 years old and my parents gave me my first PC. My interest evolved from Seiyuu music to Jpop to Jrock and then… Idol Pop! Yay! I’ve been part of the fandom for some years now, and I first started as a Hello!Project fan, because I knew Morning Musume ever since the Mr. Moonlight days, but after all of the Kago Ai crap and Gocchin’s mysterious leave I decided that I had enough toying with my poor wota heart and turned to a fandom that had taken the back seat for some months, AKB48. I have not looked back since, and I seriously doubt I will ever do.

Favorite singers: Sakamoto Maaya, KOTOKO, MELL, Shimamiya Eiko, Utatsuki Kaori, Goto Maki, Matsuura Aya (the old days), Utada Hikaru, Otsuka Ai, Amano Tsukiko, Cocco, Ilaria Graziano, Origa… lots more, but I can’t remember them now XD

Why Aitakatta? Aren’t there like 100 more interesting song titles with intrincate meanings in AKB48’s discography?: There are 2 reasons why I named this blog Aitakatta. The first one was because I really really like that song. It’s happy, upbeat, I love the guitar riff at the beginning, it’s about telling someone how you feel (I happen to have big issues with this IRL) and the Yuko-centric PV makes me happy. Also, most non-AKB48 fans are kind of familiar with this song, which is a plus, because back when I first created this blog, and there weren’t many AKB blogs around, my main interest was to help the fandom grow. Now, I’ve grown to make this a more opinionated blog, where I sort of discuss with my beloved readers many of the latest news of the group, but at first I figured it would be more like an encyclopedia of the girls so that people would know them.

Keeping that in mind, naming the blog “Aisareru to Iu Koto” for example (one of my favorite AKB songs) would’ve been pretty pointless, as people would’t have a clue of what was I talking about, and a long name sticks in people’s minds less than a short one word name.

The second reason was mainly personal and narcissistic :D I go by the pen name of Cat online (which is how my family and my bf call me), but my real name is Catalina, and most people call me Cata. So my cousin whom I live with noted how the “Aitakatta” chorus sounded a lot like the spanish slang term for “There’s Cata”. We LOL’ed about it, and she has that as her designated ringtone to ID me when I call. So yeah, I thought “Well, this is going to be MY blog, so why not call it after myself and my stupid inside joke XD”

That’s all. Feel free to ask more stuff if you really want to know, though :D

Last but by no means least, I’m forever in debt with Ray Mescallado of American Wota for hosting my blog and being so helpful whenever I’ve needed a hand, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

    Hi Cat,
Just want to say I think your blog is excellent. I have also enjoyed JPop for may years and spent ages trying to push ‘Scandal’ in England, but I love AKB48 as well, especially Maeda Atsuko !

Hola!
