[Blogs] Happy Mom’s Day Wishes from CJ

Happy Mother’s Day…

And from myself and everyone…to MILF or otherwise. But especially (as far as this post) to newest H!P moms Nono and Kaori.

I would add Tsunku. But FZ is…close? Whatever, I love that clip. And Tsuji’s take on Furusato will make you cry and/or call your mom at least. But don’t do both at the same time cause she will never let you live it down.

[Blogs] Ray Starting to Lose Mind

Almost An Epiphany

I read the first line as “I sat on her lap” at first…it’s not quite that bad, and we may all be a little deranged lately, but Ray describes perhaps what you call a wota “moment of clarity”. I wouldn’t tho. I’m fairly prone to these moments of questioning the purpose of whatever myself, but it actually happens least with idol pop. They want to entertain, we want to be entertained. They do it, we watch it, we like it. It’s more likely at a rock show where the band and the audience look like they’ve been forced there at gunpoint, or at an avant-garde performance where a grown man is playing solo kazoo for an hour with utmost serious that I begin to question the course of human evolution. Now that’s silly.

[Blogs] Solo-Kun on Namida no Iro

New Music Review: Namida no Iro (°C-ute)

Nicely formatted little review with previews. I have not been into the newest C-ute, but I LOVE Darling I LOVE YOU as done by Berryz on the Dschinghis Khan single. Turns out the C-ute version is pretty much the same, so it’s pretty much as great, in this case beating the a-side in Geoffrey’s opinion.

[Radio] JapanFiles Live365 plays hour of Ketchup Mania

ketchup mania Monday - 1 hr radio broadcast!

[via KM MySpace, must be logged in for blog]

Don’t know if I can recommend something streaming, but it’s coming up (for me) at 10pm EST. I had given up on Live365 some time ago, but it seems to be working pretty good now, so I recommend this station in general and JapanFiles in general if you are in the file-buying business. (I must have the record! But I find records to buy through them a lot lately.) They have a really great roster, more consistent than most real labels right now.

[Blogs] Ray Tries Not to Fall for Aibon…Again

First Impressions on Aibon’s Latest Return

But I don’t think he can help it. Can anyone? I will take OL Aibon back! But I’m a total sucker. Ray is cautious not to get hurt again, and I agree she’s a no good heartbreaker who doesn’t deserve a second chance–but that’s just my type. It’s tragic, but I can dream.

[Blogs] Yoshimi Runs Down the Happy! Style Girls

A Post About Some Chicks Nobody Cares About

I have not looked at or heard this group at all yet. Initial reaction: I only like Suma. But who knows.

Interesting that the Abe Asami in this group is a totally new girl. H!P is officially too big. I’m interested in hearing her singing with vibrato as described because I thought they were trained not to use it at all.

Could be an interesting group. I kinda hate the name tho. There’s just no way to make that headline work.

[Radio] WMWM Interviews with Ketchup Mania & Detroit7

No Borders No Race: Episode 64 - THE SXSW EPISODE!

Recommended listening. Happened last week but still available for a little longer through the miracle of the internet and efforts of host Evan. KM has some insight about the difference between Japanese and American shows and club and con shows. And perhaps the dangers of picking up second hand slang.

Plus SCANDAL and Oreskaband get some airplay and some other good stuff.

If you’ve heard or heard of this show before he tends to hate on idol stuff (yet really loves anime and some mainstream pop–not having that argument again), but he really knows his J-rock/J-punk/indie-semi-whatever you wanna call it. This particular show is all love and the interview is a first, so I wish him luck getting more.

[Blogs] Ray has Live Halko Eyecandy

Halko at the Honolulu Festival

I’m not really familiar with Halko, but I support any J-singers with actual legs.

But isn’t she a little old for that sailor suit? Are those…sock suspenders!?

Some great stage shots of the wotas taking over the stage (in an orderly, yet energized fashion.)

And Haruna also very cute learning her first wota dance! Oh, the corruption!

[Cake Day] Pengie tops if off with YUI

Omedetou!

She’s totally talking about cake in the video…whatever.

A sweet song and message to end Cake Day festivities.

(I think. That’s everybody, right?)

[Blogs] Rad Goes Unispotting

Hello Project, Christmas, and … what?

Rad digs through some Xmas footage on Dohhh Up with some mystery eggs recycling costumes, goofing off, and singing some Pink Lady and enka songs.

The vids are pretty cute, I think. I’m sure somebody can ID the girls. I didn’t know there was eggs that young.

The dude is respected enka singer Itsuki Hiroshii! It’s not any different than the Hawaiian record with that ukulele singer I don’t think, as far as the type of performance. Nice switch sometimes when they do stuff like this.

[Blogs] Pengie returns with new Yaida Hitomi

Album review: Yaida Hitomi - colorhythm

A nice in-depth review to get back in the groove.

I like her upbeat songs way more than the others.

In any case, Pengie is a great guide or introducer, depending.

[Blogs] Aiwish Wonders What if Michiyo Made It

A Hypothetical Question About a Forgotten Winner

This is interesting to think about. I like Michyo. Her early solo stuff is a lot like SharanQ. It’s not hard to see how that would’ve sounded if they went on with it, but I think SQ had their run by then. But it’s not that farfetched to see her succeeding if they had put everything behind her.

Of course, some people think MM was planned all along, we may never know.

[Blogs] New Maki Nomiya Out Today

Nomiya Maki “Eleganceholic”

Slightly older entry from Chipple, who I don’t believe has been linked to. I mean to do a full profile on her, but won’t get to it soon as I haven’t ordered this fairly odd special-release yet, so might as well announce it now for anyone interested.

2007 jpop predictions dissected: I am PENGIEDAMUS! … well, maybe.

5 hits is still pretty good…but what of new predictions?! Knowing guidance, please! Also, Michelle Branch? Really?
