Sakamoto Maaya - 30minutes night flight
Recommended reading. I rarely cover something non-H!P related, but I have to say that I love Sakamoto Maaya and don’t listen to her as much as I should. Tsuki gives a nice review of Maaya’s 30minutes night flight mini-album, and it’s gotten me into a Maaya mood. I can never get enough of Maaya’s voice.
Tsuki recommends this as “a great album to start with for any new and curious Sakamoto listeners, and perfect for the Sakamoto Maaya fan.” While I got into Maaya’s work from watching the anime RahXephon, I definitely agree that this would be a good place for new fans to start their Maaya fandom.

Haromoni@…Why I Love That Stupid Show!
Recommended reading. Chris has a detailed explanation of why he loves Haromoni@. Personally, Haromoni@ simply can’t hold a candle to Hello! Morning, but to each their own.
He gives his top 5 reasons for being a Haromoni@ fan and I have to say that the number one reason surprised me. However, I think CJ of So Hot She Shits Fire will appreciate Chris’ wall of text regarding his number one reason.

Buono! in BOMB
Recommended ogling. I have to say that these scans made my day. Just keep giving me more eyecandy of C-ute in their ‘Namida no Iro’ outfits, and I’ll be a happy camper. Buono! in their ‘Kiss!Kiss!Kiss’ outfits doesn’t hurt either. Hugs for Miya! ![]()

Berikyuu! Episode 12: Dance Like You Want To Win!
Berikyuu! Episode 13: Risako’s Special Gift
Berikyuu! Episode 14: It Turns Freakin’ Ugly
Berikyuu! Episode 15: Morning Musumes Of Joy
Recommended reading. Our own Ray is churning out the Berikyuu! episode reviews like… something that churns things out quickly.
The first two episodes reviewed here are of the Berryz vs. C-ute battle concert practices. I must say that I enjoyed Ray’s Manoeri version of “How Much Is That Doggy?” (or whatever that song is actually called). I love Ray’s tension filled dialogue and prose. And I love how Momoko has become the Berryz Assassin.
Saki isn’t worried that Maimi has a good six to eight inches reach over her, mostly because Momoko’s around to tear out the jugular of anyone who threatens Captain.
I was surprised there was no mention of Chisato protecting her leader by challenging the peach child to a knife fight… Though, I have to say, Captain chose a bad day to air out dirty laundry regarding Risako… On her birthday of all days…
The latter two posts cover the anomoly that was Morning Musume taking over the show supposedly for the H!P Kids. As Ray points out, there is no Beri or kyuu to be found in these two episodes. Lots of snark and insults to enjoy in here, but what killed me was his bit on Koharu.
She looks quite lovely in this shot, doesn’t she? Mature - demure, even, and I really like her hair here. She seems so normal, so clearly a young woman who is making her way in the world.
Of course, the only conclusion one can make is that when it’s time for her to play Kirarin, they reach into her skull and pull out the left hemisphere of her brain. She is a medical miracle, able to function with half a brain and thus able to portray mentally damaged anime characters to perfection when it’s called upon. When it’s time to sing “Konnichi Pa”, they yank out her medulla oblangata as well.

[single] 16sai no Koi Nante - Abe Natsumi & Yajima Maimi
Recommended reading. Second Blossoming is fairly new to the Hello! Project fandom, and one of his latest finds is the Great Abe and Yajima’s single, 16sai no Koi Nante. He’s got lots of praise for both Maimi and Nacchi and he thoroughly enjoys the lyrics of the single. I love his breakdown of the lyrics:
The lyrics are extremely interesting also. You know the feeling where you think you know everything, but then someone crushes everything and totally destroys your argument/theory and you look like a dickhead? Yeah, this song is that. But without the dickhead bit. It’s more like an “ohhhh” expression. Hahaha.
Though, for all his praise of Nacchi, I have to say that Maimi outshone Nacchi in the H!P 2008 Winter Concert performance, both vocally and through the (simplistic) dance.

Help a Blogger Out; a TLS Survey
Recommended reading. Our own broomhead is currently suffering from a lack of blogging enthusiasm. In an attempt to regain some inspiration, he’s asking for help from fellow bloggers to gain insight on why the rest of us blog. I think this is a question all bloggers ask themselves from time to time, and International Wota has definitely covered some posts on this topic.
A few bloggers have already responded to broomhead’s survey on their own blogs. I know some others are working on their responses (myself included). broomhead is not limiting responders to currently active bloggers, or even bloggers of the J-music scene (though I think that would be what all bloggers on IW would be…) but he poses this survey to anyone who has “blogged at least one entry, I think that’s enough to satisfy.” Basically, the wider the range of viewpoints, the better.
Hopefully, somewhere within these responses, broomhead will be able to find something to bring the spark back to his blogging muses.

Vintage Inaba
More Vintage Inaba
Recommending viewing. Charmy☆Renai has some clips to share on her Atsuko Inaba worship blog. These are some old school Inaba bits from her days in Osaka Performance Doll. The first clip is of a performance, and the big hair is great to see.
Gotta love the ’90s… As for the second clip, I’m not quite sure where it’s from, and Charmy☆Renai is not quite sure what’s going on in it, but it’s got a cute Inaba moment.

Recommended reading. sauder has a review of this week’s Haromoni@, which is a continuation of last week’s memory test battle. This week, the other side of the bracket step up to battle it out. The review goes round by round with screencaps galore, and I have to say that the Koha picture for round 7 is simply GOLD. I take a strange pleasure in weird Koharu pics. I can’t explain it. Though I have to agree with sauder about her round 9 screencap. It definitely makes up for the funny round 7 shot.
It looks like sauder quite enjoyed this episode of Haromoni@, even if it was filled with tension. It looks like next week we’ll see the finals of the memory test, and we’re back to more MouTube.

Recommended reading. Our own wu-san has an interesting write-up on the hot legged Berryz member, Chinami. He’s still slowly learning more about Berryz, and uses wiki.thePPN as the source of his insider information. Looks like wu-san and Chinami have a lot of things in common… It may just be a match made in heaven. XD I don’t know how I missed her habit of sleeping with her eyes half open, but I know about it now, and it’s all thanks to wu-san. ^_^

Recommended listening. So, Kawaiirrhea’s got a new remix up on the remix blog, and wowzers!! I’m totally loving this one. I don’t know if it beats AS FOR ONE KISS or VERY Hyacinth for me, but it’s pretty close. How about I put all three in a tie? How the heck am I supposed to pick between Aa!, Aya and Buono!?
It’s quite amazing how well the vocals for Kiss!Kiss!Kiss! mix with the instrumental for The Peace! Really, this one should not be missed! Oh… And Kawaiirrhea has a PV to go with it… Be warned, it’s very trippy! But I like it. ^_^

I’m a Hello!Project Fangirl
Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Reveiw
DJ_MaiMai of Just Another H!P Blog has moved from wordpress over to vox and has started fresh with a new blog titled “H!P Fangirling like Nobody’s Business”. The first post is an introduction for new and old readers alike.
The second post is a review of Buono!’s ‘Kiss!Kiss!Kiss!’. The review on the c/w ‘Minna Daisuki’ is interesting for she did it as she listened to the song. I have to agree and say that I love that “Hop step jump” is in this song too. But really, I guess I shouldn’t have been too surprised since it’s the new opening theme for Shugo Chara!

J-pop Obession has a variety of H!P icons - a few Milky Way, some Momusu, Berryz Koubou and C-ute. There are also so AKB48 and miscellanious J-pop icons. I’m really liking these icons (particularly the Berryz and C-ute ones) as they have this pretty glow which surrounds them. They definitely strike my fancy.

Hay guys, since when was Chinami this hot…
Looks like Chinami’s popular today, with Misa also posting some Chinami eyecandy today. In addition to noticing Chinami’s hotness, Misa has also taken note of Chinami’s hot legs and proposes starting a new subgroup of GMC (like the car company) for the Great Maimi and Chinami. This would basically be the hot legs group of H!P.
Seeing as Misa’s just noticed Chinami’s hot legs, I’m assuming she hasn’t seen Chinami and Yurina’s performance of ‘Nicchoku ~Geinoujin no Kaiwa~’ from Berryz Koubou’s Sakura Mankai concert. Her legs look like the go on for miles there…

Recommended reading. Hocchan reviews the latest Haromoni@ and lo and behold, it’s not a Moutube episode! It looks like they’re doing a 2 parter on memory test battles betwee the girls, and this episode had one half of the group battling it out. From the read, it looks to be an interesting episode to catch, and I particularly want to see it just for the moment that Hocchan describes regarding Risa.
Risa’s card on the fifth round turned out to be the most troublesome one of them all. The name of the vegetable was ‘o-o-ku-ro-gu-wa-i’. Risa got the third syllable wrong and it was deemed incorrect. I absolutely adored her “Huh!?” when the narrator went, “Oh?” after hearing her first answer. It was like, “Huh!? Don’t ask me to repeat myself, punk, or I’ll hurt you!”.

Hocchan continues her series of counting Morning Musume members on screen appearances and has Haromoni@ episodes from March 30 to April 13 tallied up. It was a welcome surprise to see that JunJun was able to be in a 3-way tie for first place in one of the episodes.
However, it looks like she’s running out of steam and this series may not continue for much longer.

How weird is it to say that something is vintage, when the performance Some Boys! links to is from this spring? But seeing as 2 members have since graduated, I guess it’s fitting to refer to them as vintage Ongaku Gatas. The clip is from Ongaku Gatas’ first concert DVD which will be released on May 28.

Recommended reading. I never watched the 8th generation auditions for Morning Musume, but from what I can gather from anna’s article, Ayami Masuda was a fan favourite. Well, for those of you who routed for her, it looks like you’ll be seeing a bit more of her for anna reports that she has signed on with Avex.
anna makes an interesting comparison of Koda Kumi and Goto Maki from the 3rd generation auditions. In a few years, it’d be interesting to take a look at where Aika’s career is in comparison to Ayami’s.

“Namida no iro”…a taste of C-ute’s flamenco spice!!
Recommended Reading. MorningBerryz has received his copies of C-ute’s ‘Namida no Iro’ and mostly has only good things to say about the release. The only negative point he sees is the lack of line sharing in the release. However, he has an analysis on the vocals in this release and can see why Airi is given so many lines in C-ute releases.
MorningBerryz also reviews the b-side and the Dance Shot PV with a lot of screenshots from the dance shot. I still can’t get over how amazing the girls look for this release. I don’t think I’ll ever stop gushing over this release of C-ute’s.

Nooo! A Keytar! - Dschinghis Khan Review
Hotaru starts off the post with a random little story of hearing some Hello! Project where she didn’t expect to, which is always a plus.
She then goes into review of Berryz latest single, ‘Dschinghis Khan’. She looks at the song, the PV, the dance, the c/w and a member-by-member review. Risako gets quite a lot of flack (though I can’t say much of anything for I agree with most of the points made). Chinami is praised yet again (who doesn’t love her in this PV) and Captain’s prop is questioned.
Hotaru ends off the post with a little not about the recent graduations of Mutou Mika and Ayaka, sending good wishes their way.

Our own wu-san has some screencaps of Aichan and Sayumi that is accompanied by a very interesting dialogue. XD
Personally, what I love about these screencaps is the completely unguarded aura around Aichan. When she’s enjoying herself, you know she’s not holding back… And taken with wu-san’s dialogue, that could be terribly misconstrued… >_<

Maybe it’s just a coincidence…
Usa-chan looks at some of Risako’s smaller shuffle group performances from the last few concert tours and has noticed a trend. Looking at this trend, she predicts a Sayu and Airi duet eventually. Who knows, maybe in the H!P Summer concert series. She has also picked up on Risako’s lazy dancing. This is something that has been bothering me for quite some time now. You can check it out in the embedded video clips she’s provided.

sauder stumbled across the 2005 shuffle group Elegies and fell in love with their song “Inshouha Renoir no You ni” (and later the PV). sauder reivews both the song and PV, and I agree that this song is definitely one of the sexier H!P releases. Back in the day, shuffle time was one of the highlights within the H!P year for me, but it’s nice to see that others are able to stumble upon the shuffles even now and appreciate the greatness that mixing and matching H!P artists could produce. Tsunku really needs to bring back some quality shuffle groups.

She’ll Probably Assault You With Her Cellular
nyago at Some Boys! has a photo of Mai Satoda after a “high fashion makeover”. Some snarky comments accompany the photograph, but what really got me was the length of her stride. But then again, I’m not into the fashion world, so I don’t see many models walking the catwalk either…

There’s Nothing Wrong with Ballads
Charmy☆Renai talks about slower paced Hello! Project releases and comments on the dread that many fans associate with the slower songs. I’d have to agree with Charmy in regards to this, for I am a huge fan of Hello! Project Ballads (not all of them mind you, but I don’t like all of the fast-paced H!P songs either). Charmy’s not bashing on the upbeat songs, either. Instead she simply asks that we all respect each others differences.

It looks like the Wonderful Hearts are going strong. However, I’d have to disagree with him on the part of no one claiming to be a fan of Koharu or Milky Way. Despite the fact that Koharu’s voice isn’t the greatest (slight understatement on my part), I know many people within the H!P blogosphere who unhesitatingly admit to being a Koharu (and/or Milky Way) fan.

[single] Hare Ame Nochi Suki - Morning Musume Sakura Gumi | Resonant Blue after-i-got-it-on-CD reactions

Miyabi’s Heels = <3 ...i mean... [PV] Kiss!Kiss!Kiss! - Buono!
Recommended Reading. In the first post, Second Blossoming has received his copies of Morning Musume’s ‘Resonant Blue’ and Sakura Gumi’s ‘Sakura Mankai’, but rather than talk about those, he goes into a review of Sakura Gumi’s first single, ‘Hare Ame Nochi Suki’. It doesn’t beat ‘Sakura Mankai’ for him, but there’s enough love left to go around for this single. You really get a feel for his love of this short-lived subgroup in this post.
I’m in love with Morning Musume Sakura Gumi. The girls, their dances, their songs, the atmosphere, the subtle intensity emitting from the girls’ eyes.
In his second post, Second Blossoming shares his favourite shots from Risa’s newest PB, ‘Happy Girl’. Recommended ogling for Risa fans, and I’m definitely one of them. My particular favourite from the ones he shares is the last one. <3
In the last post, Second Blossoming shares his love for Buono!'s latest PV (as well as for Miyabi's heels... I need to go check those out now). It seems he didn't know much about them prior to this, but curiosity got the better of him, and after looking them up, he was won over. Score another point for Buono! However, I think SB and I will have to take this outside and duke it out. I need to teach him that Miyabi > Airi! … Just kidding. I love them both (though I’m sure by now that my preference has been made clear ^_^).

chibon taks a look at Aya’s 20th single ‘Kizuna’. The song gets an unenthusiastic thumb up because “overall, it’s a pretty song and probably great for karaoke. But not more.”
As for the PV, it doesn’t get a good review at all. I’m not all that surprised since, from the screenshots provided here, it’s just Aya in various place in that horrid outfit seen on the cover of her single. And the bun… Don’t get me started. I haven’t actually watched this PV yet, but for all of my Ayaya love, I’m not sure if I want to. It may just depress me.
However, I must say, I like that formula at the end of the post.

Farewell Mika Mutou (True Life Seek)

Mutou Mika Graduating (Strawberrie)
Mutou Mika graduating from Hello! Project (Resonant Blue)
Recommended Reading. There have been quite a few reactions to the announced graduation of Ongaku Gatas member Mika Mutou. As I said before, I haven’t really followed Ongaku Gatas, but it seems she wasn’t a favourite. However, the outpouring of support for Mutou from our corner of the blogsphere is actually quite touching.
Our own broomhead of True Life Seek is surprised that the news of her graduating has upset him. The fact that she is not your run-of-the-mill pretty idol forged a sense of appreciation from broomhead, and he’s going to miss her.
Yoshimi of yossha yossha YOSSHA! is worried about the possible “Good riddance” posts that could come up in response to Mutou’s graduation, but I’m happy to report that I’ve only seen well wishing posts thus far.
Charmy of Renai☆Project was saddened upon learning of Mutou’s coming graduation, but she wishes Mutou well in whatever path she eventually decides to pursue. In the same vein as Yoshimi, Charmy wonders if her decision to leave was affected by the negative opinions Mutou has received due to her unconventional idol look.
Usa-chan of Aoi♥Usagi is highly disheartened by the news, seeing as Mutou is her favourite Egg. Usa-chan gives a nice run down of why Mutou is her favourite Egg along with providing a variety of photos. I absolutely love the title of her post.
Our own celestia of Bikkuri Project is reacting similarly to broomhead. Mika was possibly her least favourite member of H!P, but her imminent departure has stirred a previously unrealized liking for the Egg. She explains her lack of interest in Mika Mutou as an idol, but wishes her all the best in her personal life. She’s also got a new poll on her blog - Vote for your favourite Egg! So go check that out!
Strawberrie is wondering how Mika’s departure will affect the future of Ongaku Gatas.
Our own IndigoSkies of Resonant Blue is not a huge fan of Mutou, but she also wishes her well. However, her main concern falls along the same line as Strawberrie, and IndigoSkies wonders how this graduation will affect the status of Ongaku Gatas.
As I went through all these posts, I actually noticed the date… Mika Mutou is graduating in 1 day (it’s the April 29th in Japan already). I didn’t realize how imminent her graduation was…

[Announcement] Remix Album Track Listing
Osaka Koi no Vacance
These two posts have been up for about a week now, but I have lagged and am just getting around to posting on them. First up, Kawaiirrhea has announced a tentative track list for the upcoming remix album. I’m quite happy to see my favourite remixes there (VERY Hyacinth and AS FOR ONE KISS). I’m also interested to hear these other remixes which haven’t been released yet.
The second post is a new remix titled ‘Osaka Koi no Vacance’. Here we’ve got W vocals singing over the ‘Osaka Koi no Uta’ instrumental track. This is another well put together remix, though it doesn’t beat out the two I listed above for my favourites. This post gets a Recommended Listening tag.

Shirow of Wotaku Now! has been keeping the post office busy with a bunch of Hello! Project related items that have been shipping to him.
He’s received both of Maimi’s PBs, quite a few UFA official photos of C-ute, Berryz (with a focus on Chinami and Maasa) and Risa, some venue exclusive merch from Berryz Koubou’s Sakura Manakai concert tour, and Momoko’s autographed Rakuten Eagles baseball. Shirow has pictures of all of his recent gets, and it looks as though he sees Momo’s baseball is the most impressive recent purchase.
It really is quite a unique and special piece of h!p merchandise, probably one of the most interesting things in my collection, maybe one day I’ll have the balls to rival ‘Morning berryz’ … but until that day I’ll just sit here any play with my own.

Recommended Ogling. Hello! Island and Hello! C-ute have some C-ute eyecandy to share. hide-chan of Hello! Island has a C-ute FC card, while hellocute has a scan of Vol. 22 of C-utie Museum. What I love is that both scans have the girls in their ‘Namida no Iro’ outfits, and I just can’t get enough of those!

Ring3 Making DVD Special Edition - part 2
Toku-san LOVE
Miyabi LOVE
Recommended ogling. Our own zush has a whole bunch of eycandy for Berryz Koubou fans. In particular, Risako, Chinami and Miyabi fans. I didn’t actually read zush’s comment before scrolling down on the Risako post, and thus was initially confused as to why that one room looked so short.
The Chinami and Miyabi eyecandy are shots from the Berryz vs. C-ute battle concert, and I just have to say that last picture of Miya is… WOW. Shiny, black, and her pose… She definitely looks in control, ready to take names and numbers. “What’s that, Suzuki? Trying to take my ‘Woah Yeahs’? Well take this!! BAKYUU!!”

Recommended for people who want to remix. Kawaiirrhea has compiled a comprehensive list of H!P recordings and their key and tempo. These aren’t all H!P releases, but any that have been released with an instrumental (because those with instrumentals would obviously be easiest to use for a remix). I’m not a remixer myself, but just glancing at this list, I have to say WOW. Kawaiirrhea is definitely one dedicated remixer. ![]()

Morning Musume’s “Resonant Blue”…a possible line in the sand?
Recommended reading. MorningBerryz has received his 3 editions of Resonant Blue and reviews the cover art, the PVs with each LE DVD and the song itself. I have to say that I’m with MorningBerryz in regards to LE content. I enjoyed the photobooks best in regards to LE extras, and I’m sad to see that there hasn’t been an LE photobook in quite some time.
MorningBerryz sees Resonant Blue as a transition point for Morning Musume as they take on a more mature image. He’s really enjoying the different sound and feel that Morning Musume is currently projecting. It will be interesting to see how they will progress come their next single.
The post is also filled with scans for the covers and inner jackets for each version, as well as a healthy dose of screencaps from the 2 LE DVD PVs (wow, that was a lot of capitals all in a row). So this is also recommended ogling.

Ai Kago in Renai Revolution 21
For a new fan of H!P, watching old Morning Musume PVs can be confusing when it comes to telling the terrible two (aka Kago Ai and Tsuji Nozomi) apart. Our own broomhead looks to dispel this confusion by posting screencaps of the dear 12 year old Aibon from the PV for Renai Revolution 21. Pay close attention to the second screencap, which features both girls mentioned. You can see why some newbies could get confused. ![]()

So, it looks like Airin will be coming out with a new photobook this June. I know lots of people are looking for some first PBs from certain members who haven’t had the luck to release one yet. However, I’m with Strawberrie in regards to the next photobook Ive been waiting for.
I’m wondering when will Miyabi release a second one?
