Fans’ Top H!p Songs Poll: Results Part 1
Last month, I asked Hello Project fans to send me ten votes, to be distributed however they chose among H!p’s considerable song catalog.
Nowvoting has come to an end, and I’m very pleased to show you Part 1 of the results. Don’t get too excited though. I’m saving the best for Part 2.
First, some info on the voters.
Total Number of Participants: 124 (and 1,240 votes)
Countries Represented: USA, Australia, Canada, Philippines, Switzerland, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Finland, Poland, Norway, Netherlands, Brazil, China, Peru, Denmark, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Lithuania, Mexico, Sweden, and Japan.
If you participated and you don’t see your country listed, it’s probably because you didn’t tell me what country you are from, but if you let me know, I’ll add it to the list.

As you can see, Morning Musume wins it by a large margin. However, keep in mind that those votes are spread out over a lot more songs than the other artists have.
For the song ranking, I have decided to make two videos showcasing the Top 40 songs. Where there were ties in pure number of votes, the song with more people voting for it (as opposed to less people using multiple votes) was ranked ahead. For a couple cases in the Top 40, two songs still had the same score, so I just left it as a tie.
So here is part 1 of the results! Numbers 40-21. I used different clips than I did in my own countdown. I’ll have the video for 20-1 as well as the full results in my next post. Enjoy!

EDIT: Ack! I can’t believe it, but I made a small mistake in the numbering. Very Beauty and Yume to Genjitsu should be tied for #32.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised at the huge amount of Morning Musume songs included in this list. It would’ve been nice to see more variety, but maybe that will happen in the results for part 2. I think you may have goofed, though. You have 3 songs that tied for #34, and in between them is a #32 song. Oh, it’s funny how the audio for “Massara Blue Jeans” is out of sync with the video.
So out of those 20, I’ve listened to 9 all the way through, and 6 of those have substantial replay value for me (specifically, 40, 37, 35, 26, 22, and 21). Naturally, none were in my top ten, but I only really expected one of my picks to make it onto the final list.

This is a great project.:) And I feel like I forgot some of the songs that were here in my list. But alas, we could only choose ten, so… It is natural to forget some. ^^
Interesting. None of the ones I voted for are here, but I suspect one or two will be in the top 20. Good to know that Yume to Genjitsu made it.
I’d like to point out that the text (name of the song and/or place) isn’t very visible at times (example: that meagre song that appears after Ne~e).
Absolutely amazing, Celestia. You put so much work into this. I know you are just as interested as us, but it really is such a wonderful gift you’re giving everybody AND the editing of the winners into a YouTube video as well! Wow. Thank you so much.
I thought this was going to be top 100? Did we get shorted on 100 - 41? lol, Just because I was one who probably choose weird or had maybe 1 or 2 votes. about 10 songs I don’t know from the 40 - 21 category….. so sad that I’ve moved on to AKB…. still great songs like Yume to Genjitsu…. I had to double check twice on who was that third girl…. I was thinking that was Maiha! lol…
having said that, I’m shocked on how #23… I thought was going to be higher. I thought #22 would be lower too… I thought I was the only one who voted for that song lol. I had an impression that one wasn’t popular enough. Also shocked at #37… I can’t stand that song and it ranked so high. I guess “Mikan” to me is like “Glass no I LOVE YOU” is to everyone lol.
I can’t remember what I voted for… any chances of getting my votes back? lol. Although I’m pretty much sure 75% of what I chosen is probably not in the list.
Could we get a complete list afterwords of the top 100?

I’m gonna be honest and say I’m not going to bother with the video because, my interests aren’t popular enough, so I know I would skip through the entire video xD I am eagerly awaiting the full wriiten results~
BUT, I still appreciate the effort into all this, counting votes and making the video.
The results are interesting. I thought 3/4 of my choices would make it into this list. In the 40-20 video only 2 of my picks were there. And it doesn’t seem like that many of my remaining picks will be in the top 20. Which is a little surprising. I guess all the older songs are less popular. XD
I am really glad that Genki+ made it onto the list. That’s one of my favorite Momusu songs. :] Also happy about Suki Sugite Baka Mitai, which I completely forgot about.
I’m looking forward to the top 20 now, and the rest of the list. It will be interesting to see how many people voted for the songs I picked. :]

I’m with AimxAim. Mustg be a lot of people that have only been into HP for two or three years. I see how a lot of the songs might have made it into #’s 40-20. My one exception would have been Mikan. I wouldn’t put that one in the top 40 of just Momusu’s songs let alone all of HP. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks for doing this.
