I want to make a ranked list of my favorite hello project songs, but every time I try to, I have too much trouble deciding. In the spirit of ‘baby steps’, instead, I have here to offer you today a list of the top 10 songs that get stuck in my head the most. I should note that I, sadly, have not listened to every Hello Project song ever, and so this list is slanted toward those artists that I listen to more often. These aren’t my favorite songs, and most of them would not be on my Top 10 favorites list at all, but they are the songs that I seem to find the catchiest. I braved listening to most of these songs and getting them all stuck in my head at once in a horrible maddening medly in order to bring you this entry, so I hope you appreciate it! Starting with the least likely to get stuck in my head and moving up to the most likely!

10. Ookina ai de motenashite-Cute, I don’t mean the whole song. Just the titular super cutesey super high lyrics. Of all the songs that tend to get stuck in my head, this one by far annoys me the most.

9. Dekkai uchuu ni ai ga aru-MM, it’s the chorus. They just sing it over and over and over again.

8.Zutto suki de ii desuka?-Ayaya, I’m not sure why this one is so catchy for me, but the chorus really is

7. Ai no imi wo oshiete-W, “Egao o afureteru mou mainichi daisuki na no” it’s the high cutsey thing again! the second most annoying song to frequently get stuck in my head

6. Balalaika-Kirari, What can I say? I don’t think a list of h!p songs that get stuck in your head could be complete without this one. I believe that it sold so well only because it wouldn’t stop playing in people’s heads until they bought the CD and could play it for real. Clever Koharu…

5. Hare ame nochi suki-MM sakuragumi, mostly the “ne hare dooriame nochi SUKI” line. Yeah, I’m kind of surprised when ballads get stuck in my head, but this one always does.

4. Aruiteru-MM, another ballad? Yeah, but only for the relentlessly repeated “nanananananana” parts.

3. Yuruki! It’s Easy-Maki, Now this one deserves it’s own special place among the songs that annoy me, because it causes only two words to repeat over and over in my head, “daijoubu kitto daijoubu…daijoubu kitto daijoubu…daijoubu kitto daijoubu…etc. until the end of time”

2. Genki jirushi no oomori song- Minimoni, An odd choice I know. I wanted to put this song lower down, but I had to be honest with myself and give it the number 2 spot. Something about the chorus just sticks with me. That, and whenever I hear the word ‘genki’ I have an almost unstopable urge to break into this song.

1. Go girl koi no victory-MM, Easy, easy choice. This song was MADE to get stuck in your head. I honestly don’t see how it could not. This song also holds the dubious honor of being the only song to get its dance stuck in my head. Is that even really possible?

I changed my mind about doing Risa’s entry. I’m going to try to do it on her birthday. It seems fitting. In the meantime, here’s a collection of my thoughts that aren’t really worth their own entry.

-JunJun on h!m eating that bannana… they are feeding her, right? Maybe the poor girl was just hungry?

-Abe Natsumi’s new song is boring. Sorry, but it’s true.

-I’m a little nervous about this whole “nice girls” project thing. We’ll see how that goes I guess.

-How did Kusumi manage to not only be the voice actor for Kirari, but also BE Kirari? Has this ever happened before with an anime (the voice actor being in the opening for the show, dressed as the character). I mean, it’s great for her, of course, but I still can’t figure out how she pulled it off.

-I should be studying for my biopsychology test tomorrow.

- My last tidbit for today is another new feature!!! I know you’re super excited. It’s the great lyric faceoff. I’ll select words that I think are common in MM lyrics, count how many times they appear, and declare a winner. Today our words are: Ai, dakishimete, namida. Only considering A-side singles, not counting titles, and including the sakura/otome gumi songs…

There’s an awful lot of crying going on, though one song contributed heavily to that one (guess which one it was! ), but in the end, it looks like love really does conquer all in the morning musume universe, with almost 100 occurances! Who knows. Maybe with the new single it’ll get into the triple digits?

Inspired by another blog I read, I thought I’d post my thoughts and feelings about each member in detail, and going from least favorite to most favorite seemed like a good way to go about it. Starting with #9 Koharu “Kirari” Kusumi.

I’ll come right out and say it. At first, I kind of hated Koharu. Her voice did (and still does) hurt my ears. I’m not sure exactly why this is. She’s either constantly flat or has some weird throaty thing she does sometimes… I don’t even know what it is, but it sounds awful, to the point where I am yelling at my computer screen “Come on Koharu, you’re ruining the song!!”. At least Sayu knows she’s not the strongest singer. I think Koharu might actually think she’s a good singer. She seems to kind of get on the other member’s nerves a lot of the time, as there have been multiple refferences to her tendancy to goof off and get yelled at by them. She couldn’t dance well at all when she joined. Finially, she gets a completaly unfair line distribution and a freaking solo career. And don’t even get my started on her rabid fans who seem to think she walks on water….

But that said, Koharu won me over just a bit with her Onna ni Sachi Are role. I’ve got to admit that she looks very pretty in that PV, dances well, and her lines are actually not bad at all to listen to. In fact her “Asahi yo no bore” line is downright good! So… how do I feel about Koharu? She’s still not my favorite, that’s for sure, and hearing her sing live usually makes me grit my teeth, but she’s one of the prettier members of MM, her dancing is just fine now, and it’s probably not really her fault for annoying the other members as she joined all alone at the age of 12. If she had a friend her own age to hang out with, she probably wouldn’t have been annoying them so much (and people have been saying that since Aika joined she’s been stepping up her game). It’s also not her “fault” that she gets so many lines. It’s not like she assigns the parts for the songs after all, and for all that she isn’t, she is a fresh new face with a goofy outgoing personality, and for those reasons, she is a contributing member of the group, so while I’m not exactly her fan, I have come to appreciate her much more lately.

Here’s hoping I’m not about to be mauled by said rabid Koharu fans for the first half of this entry…
