Love-Hello! - Yaguchi Mari

Hello!Fansubs has completed a new subbed DVD project - Love-Hello! - Yaguchi Mari. It seems that this was the best selling Idol DVD in Japan. I don’t know if it was just for the year of 2003, or what, but that’s pretty impressive. For those who haven’t watched this DVD before (like me) there’s a little list in this post explaining highlights from the DVD. It sounds quite interesting.

Strawberrie shares the new Berryz Koubou PV, which has just been released on the Dohhh UP! web site (direct link also provided above). Interestingly, every single frame has at least one banana in it, including the title screen. This is some insane, seizure-inducing stuff (it’s bananas?) with Berryz in monkey suits half the time, likely to please and enrage in equal proportions.

They have a live stream, I haven’t heard anything Japanese on it yet but I assume that’s coming at some point…  and besides they have a cool name.

Rock Fujiyama clips

Marty had his own show on Japanese TV that aired from 2006 to 2007, called Rock Fujiyama. I’m not entirely sure what the premise of the show was exactly, but I do know that in nearly every episode Marty picked one of his favorite Japanese songs, grabbed his guitar and showed that it could be played in a rock or metal way, pointed out its similarities to a known western song and then proceeded to jam it out and do a crazy medley of said Japanese song together with the western song. Thankfully, someone has uploaded all of these parts to YouTube for our enjoyment.

To get a better idea of what I’m talking about, try watching the clip from the first episode. It’s a real treat; Marty plays the popular “Ii Hi Tabidachi” by Momoe Yamaguchi (H!P fans should remember it from Uta Doki! when Miki Fujimoto covered it) and then points out that it’s very similar to “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin. Awesomeness ensues. Do watch!

The first post share’s a few Risa Niigaki pictures, and I have no Idea where they come from to be honest. Does anyone? Okay, Risa fans will know, obviously, but I cant say I’m too bothered on this one.

The next set of pictures involve C-ute members Maimi and Erika. It’s rather fitting that they’re my two favourite C-ute members, and the only two things I know about C-ute in the first place. Recommended viewing. Especially the last two photos.

Japanese Teen Idols

‘Japanese Teen Idols’ is mostly what the title entails, and I’ve found it to be a good hub for H!P pictures. It’s like a grander preview site, as some of the posts keep things relatively short. But then that’s not a bad thing really. It’s far less cluttered and prettier for it. Couple this blog with Zush’s impressive picture archives/gallery too, you have a nice pairing I think. Anyway, it mostly deals with H!P idols and for anyone interested, there’s some dorama actresses included too. Recommended Viewing.

Lights out at International Wota

So what do we have here then?

As many of us know by now, one of Rad’s strongest assets as a writer is the way he handles his passions in his blog entries. Regardless of how farfetched some of his past works may seem, he certainly has a way of putting a romantic spin on things. When it works to his advantage, it’s pretty powerful stuff. Propoganda even. Not that he has to strive to be left-wing, but up until recently, I think that’s how we’d evaluate much of his work.

Anyway, it’s hard to pick holes at Rad’s usual decorum of venting, as it’s all positive praise for IntlWota here. The post comes as a reaction to the spell of heat in the comments section recently. As Pengie would say, let’s swiftly move on. I think we should take this post on face value here and enjoy rad’s good vibes. In many respects, it’s a nice little advert for our side of things. Recommended reading.

The amazing H!P rock remix site by Akebono no Myojo, hope I die by Overdose/Between the Berryz and Me/ANGEL IS AN ASTRONAUT (it got a new name with each “album”) has come to an end. Do yourself a favor and download the zipped files of his “albums” before the site closes for good! Akebono no Myojo has a great talent for making rock remixes - he even used an Underoath instrumental as the basis for a remix of “Massara Blue Jeans” which sounds AWESOME - and the closing of his site is a great loss to the world of H!P remixes. As an avid fan of his remixes, I want to thank him for all of his hard work on these remixes since 2004! His site will be sorely missed.

Anime Expo Focus Panel: Anna Tsuchiya

Anime News Network put up an article on Anna Tsuchiya’s Anime Expo panel. It’s an interesting read, as some of Anna’s answers are kind of unexpected (especially when she talks about her bands towards the end). I wonder what the name of Anna’s next movie is. A punk nurse sound pretty interesting! I only wish I lived on the West Coast so I could go…
