The Hello! Project official site has the latest news: Ayaka, the last remaining member of Coconuts Musume, is graduating from H!P. I can’t read too much of the details, but she’s already graduated- it’s already April 30th in Japan. Really, it’s not like she did that much in H!P anyway…but it’s sad to see another member leave.

New girl group gambles on ringtone downloads (Tokyograph)
Power Age Site
Recommended reading. Power Age is an idol unit made up of nine high school girls with acting or modeling experience, and four have been made into a sub-unit. This quartet will release their debut single as a free ringtone. If they don’t get 10,000 downloads for this free ringtone, the subunit is broken up immediately.
The official site intrigues me, mostly because all the girls are pretty and there’s only nine so it’s easy to keep track of and their names are in English so I can tell who’s who even easier. Giving away ten thousand free ringtones isn’t nearly as demanding as selling fifty thousand copies of a single in five days, but these are the times we live in now.

Apparently this was announced about two weeks ago, but it’s only been noticed now. After breaking up late last year due to member illness and solo projects, members Kosaka Riyu and Minami Sayaka have reformed the group. To fill in the holes left by the departing four girls, there are three brand new members: Fukushita Megumi, Tachibana Ayano, and Nichiushi Hiromi.
This is a little strange. How often does a group lose most of its members and then randomly come back with new girls?
… oh, wait.

Berryz and Momusu article on Oricon site
I don’t really understand this and the translator I ran it through didn’t help. Someone explain this, please? I briefly panicked when I saw the words “MoMusume member” but I’m pretty sure it’s not what I thought. I just remembered that old theory that Berryz members would get “moved up” to Momusu and got scared for a minute. But what is this about, anyway?

Fujimoto Miki Removed From Young Town Doyoubi
Our own Jin has news of Miki Fujimoto being replaced on the radio program Young Town Doyoubi by Sayumi Michishige. Jin is looking at it as bad news (citing Mari Yaguchi’s sudden reduction in workrate after she resigned from Morning Musume two years ago), but to be fair, Miki has only been announcing during GAM’s concert tour that’s she’s going to continue on with GAM and her solo career - she said nothing about her radio show.

Via their official website, previously stagnant group the brilliant green (known for spawning our favorite Avril Lavigne lookalike, Kawase Tomoko) has announced that they will celebrate their ten year anniversary by returning as a group! After five years of no new music, the group will release “Stand by Me,” a drama theme song, sometime this year. Although the group never officially broke up, Tommy’s solo career seemed to hint at that… but this is great news!
After all the kaisans, it’s nice to see a band getting back together for a change.
