Iwasarouka Komoritai

The sweet smell of vindication.  I must admit I have been majorly pissed off at all of the IwaKomo hate that has been present around the latest Watariouka release.  It seems the loli purists didn’t like the idea of any changes to their precious unit at the risk of their oshis losing a line or two in the singles.  I usually don’t curse on my blog, but this is a special occasion for those of you who dissed Wasamin and Komorin along the way…

EFF YOU!!!

I’ll tell you why I am so pissed off.  I happen to be a champion of underdogs.  And when Wasamin “chose me” as someone who would support her, I promised myself I would do it “all the way”.  And for a long time I have seen her passed over for other kenkyuusei and asked myself “Why”?  Do they not see the talent and beauty I am seeing in this girl?  I’m sorry, but it just bothers me when I see a girl fighting hard to make it, and a bunch of front-running fans push her down when she finally gets a long deserved break.  But at long last, people are beginning to get it…

This video is from the OgiMatsuri Box Set that came out earlier this month.  I will admit that Misaki-chan still needs a little polish when it comes to her Enka-skills.  But she still hasn’t turned 16, and when you factor that in this is an amazing performance!  I always knew there was something special about this girl, even before I realized what a great singer she was!

As far as Komori is concerned, she is still receiving a bit of flack for being in this unit.  On one hand I understand why this is happening.  She is a unique idol, and on the surface she seems way out of her league.  But what her detractors fail to see is that all of the reasons they hate her happen to be the same reasons her fans adore her.  She IS awkward.  She IS shy.  She IS dopey too…a step slow.  That’s okay, it is all of those qualities that her fans find adorable.  And even by accident, they make her one of the funniest and most entertaining members of AKB48!  Let’s call it the “Oh-Yay” effect.  Remember, Ohe Tomomi was my original AKB Oshi, and the similarities between her and Mikapon are pronounced.

And don’t give me any BS about her being prematurely “pushed”.   I don’t see anyone complaining about the current promotion of Ichikawa Miori.  “Fresh Remon!!”

Now that the PV has been previewed, everyone is praising how adorable it is.  Any why wouldn’t they?  It is the epitome of cute.  Despite what many of us expected there is plenty of IwaKomo love to go around.  That makes me happy since I am STILL waiting for my Komori/Iwasa image DVD to arrive in the mail (Don’t ask, I will just say that this is the last time I order anything from YesAsia…the bastards!)

Anyway, I ordered the A and B editions of the single.  Hopefully I will get a nice Wasamin bonus inside.  My only regret about not getting the regular edition is that I think the cover is too cute!

I don’t care if Valentine Kiss is a remake.  Standing alone it is an adorable song, and an even better PV.  Enough to shut up all of the detractors we IwaKomo fans had to endure for the past couple of months.  I so hoped this would be a great single, and am completely satisfied after seeing the end result.

  1. I totally agree with you, it really pisses me off when i see people unduely dissing idols for getting pushing: see Sayaka in DIVA. The WH pv was awesome and i hope komori get a solo!!

  2. Eff them indeed, this is a great PV and song.

And yeah, the regular cover is the best of the three. The others are simple.. but still much better than the type Watarirouka usually gets.

  3. I’m sorry if you felt they were attacked (maybe by other people they were). I adore both of them and I never meant for people to feel it was against them. When I found out it was a one time thing, I didn’t see a problem anymore. But, after seeing the results I wouldn’t mind the line-up staying this way. For any group I get concerned when there is change of line-up. In this case it was mostly that there was a chance that they would pull a Shock! (C-ute). I got the RE if it makes you feel any better.

  4. I guess it might be a good idea for me to not read almost anything about AKB since I started getting interested (actually, I only read you and MB), because I completely missed all the negativity in this case. I’m sad to hear in Mina’s comment that this is a one time deal, my interest in Watarirouka went way up with both of them getting in it. I don’t know much about Wasamin, but from what I could tell from her DVD with Komori, she’s adorable. I couldn’t ever hate an adorable girl. And I like Komori since one of the dozen of different Shuukan AKB episodes where the producers were intelligent enough to put her on screen. Hum, I think the first time she caught my attention was when she had to throw darts to pop some balloons in a challenge and she completely owned it. And yeah, awkward, shy, bit too slow, that’s Komori. Some people will like that, others won’t, and there’s nothing more to it.

  5. I didn’t think anyone who said they shouldn’t join warota was dissing them, they just don’t fit. Warota is meant for ori B girls and the five who are called Watarirouka Hashiritai are all ori B members.

Just because I said I didn’t want them in my Warota, it doesn’t mean I don’t like them or was ‘dissing’ them, I just don’t think they fit so I didn’t want them to join. Actually, I love Komorin and would like to see more of her… just not in warota.

I don’t doubt their talent or w/e, I just think it should be utilized elsewhere. Komorin is getting a successful push, so I could see her and the other three ogi pro girls (natsumi and micha) getting their own unit of some sorts, or maybe solo releases. Just not warota.

  6. Okay, first of all thank you to all that commented. But I want to direct this comment mainly at Max because I have heard his response before from others. That it is about the unit itself rather the the girls personally. And that may be your perception, but it makes it no less of a slight on Wasamin.

She is working hard like so many other members, and stands in the background while some get selected for things, and others don’t. Finally AkiP takes her aside and says “Okay kid, we are going to put you into Watarirouka and see how you do” I am sure it was an exciting time for her as she had never been selected for something like this before.

Meanwhile a bunch of fans start bitching that adding too many members will ruin the unit. I’m not sure how much fan scuttlebutt the girls actually hear, but I am sure the sentiment got back to the girls in some way. They want to do well, and want to be popular. But now have to endure negative publicity because of their selection. Sure, nobody means any harm to Wasamin or Komori “personally”, but it is still like pissing in their corn flakes. It is easy to say that you think she should be in “some other unit”. But it isn’t like opportunities are falling from the proverbial Unit Tree all day (Well, perhaps at the moment they are, hehe).

As fans we want to celebrate our Oshi’s good fortune, but in this case we have to defend it. And that is what I find to be lame, especially when it comes from fans who’s Oshis are in senbatsu, units and special promotions all the time.

  7. Yay, yay, (Komorin’s way) the best PV I’ve ever seen!! CK, I agree with you. The bashing, even it was indirect, in fact hurt our girls. At some point I really did hope I could understand Japanese to defend them, but at other point I think it would hurt me more to read the anti-fans’ grumbles.

But, this PV, mamma mia! I really, really love it. Could you tell me how to order it via internet? Of course, not from yesasia. 🙂 Anyway, I do hope you receive your Iwakomo DVD in short time.
