My site statistics tell me that today someone visited this blog from Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of the Sultanate of Brunei. Brunei??? Look it up. That’s like one of the tiniest countries out there, only a little bit bigger than Rhode Island, but located near Malaysia. How did someone from Brunei come across my website?
Whoever you are, mysterious Bruneian visitor, you should leave a comment and explain this mystery to me.

Hoorah! The full faculties of my computer have been restored to me. I come bringing a few little goodies of celebration!
Beautiful Jin. *swoons*

BAKANISHI Jin. *ROFL* This is probably the dumbest possible way he could have reacted to a microphone malfunction. This .GIF is only a few seconds. He kept dodging around that microphone for the entire last chorus of the song.

Oh Riida. I don’t even know what to say.

In the news, Anan’s “Top Male Idol” poll results are in. This is a very far-reaching poll, drawing from the opinions of everyone from teenage girls to their middle aged mothers. Results can be seen HERE
JinJin is up 5 places to number 3! Awesome! Takuya Kimura takes 1st for the 15th year in a row *shakes head*. He couldn’t be more assured of victory in this poll if the question was “Who is the Kimutaku-est member of SMAP?”. Also on the list are Matsujun (4th), Kame (11th), Sho-kun (14th), and Nino (16th). By my count, 18 of these 30 are from Johnny’s.
In other news, Arashi shall have a new single, “Beautiful Days” to be used as the theme for Nino’s new drama. Four singles in a year! Wow. That’s pretty unheard of for Johnny’s. Arashi already has two of their singles currently sitting pretty in the number 1 and number 2 spots on the yearly oricon chart for 2008. Are they going for third place too?
Speaking of which, shouldn’t KAT-TUN be having a new single before the end of the year? Maybe November or early December or something?
Until we meet again,

I’m having computer troubles AGAIN. This time, my power cable is on the fritz. I have to hold it in place at a certain angle just to get my laptop’s battery to charge, and who knows how long it’ll be until it goes out completely. So, until my dad sends me a new one, I’m using my computer sparingly, which probably means no big updates here for a while. So sorry. Believe me. This hurts me more than it hurts you.

This video is spliced together from what I got with my camera (which is not a video camera) of the cheering competition at the middle school I teach at’s sports festival. It wouldn’t have anything to do with Johnny’s except….. if you happen to be a Kanjani fan, you might want to check out about a third of the way through (:55 or so).

The sports festival was really fun, by the way. If you want to see more of the festival, it’s in my Japan journal HERE.

I cannot mention my musical tastes without causing a mini-riot in my classes, I swear. Today after I had finished a class I was cornered, literally cornered, by four 6th grade girls, one of whom had a Koki strap attached to her bag, and drilled on my taste in Johnny’s. They were just rapid-fire throwing out names and expecting me to give my opinion. Yamapi! KAT-TUN! Kanjani! Matsujun! Tokio!! They’d scream every time I said something positive. The teacher had to pull them away so I could even get out the door and to my next class. I was surprised about the Tokio thing, but yes, one of the girls was a Nagase fan. I later had lunch with that same class, and the posse of girls brought “One Love” to play in the class CD player during lunch.
Also, one of the 5th grade teachers is a big Kanjani fan. She was almost as bad as the little girls with all the questions.
So far I have “experimented” with mentioning Johnny’s to elementary school kids, Junior High girls, High School girls, and college girls, and it never fails to get a huge reaction. Sometimes even the middle-aged teachers join in. I feel so at home here! Lol.

If you haven’t already, you should check out this week’s Cartoon KAT-TUN. It’s on Veoh HERE The part at the beginning with Will Smith is hilarious. I love it when cultures collide like that. Also, Jin’s English interview. He is so cute and nervous. He can’t stop touching his face and fidgeting with his hair/glasses/clothes and giggling. Oh the giggling. Nervous Jin is a rare sight, so we should enjoy this. His hair is still all curly, but significantly less curly than it was in those Myojo pictures. Looks like the permness has relaxed a bit, and I would no longer call him a poodle. Still don’t like it, but I’m not tempted to throw things when I see him anymore, so that’s good.
PS. You can tell Jin’s spent a good amount of time talking with foreigners because he puts “like” into a lot of his sentences and says “yeah” instead of “yes”. His English pronunciation and intonation really is fantastic. Well, that’s the thing about Jin. If he puts his mind to something, like say, learning English, nothing, not even his own innate dumbness, will get in his way. He even knows fancy words like “automatically” and “reaction”. So proud of you JinJin!
Jodie Foster doesn’t even know how lucky she is.

Today was my first real day of teaching in Japan. When I was visiting a 4th grade class (10 year olds), we had “ask the English teacher questions” time again. I was asked what kind of music I like, and when I happened to mention that I like Arashi, it got a huge reaction. Naturally, they started drilling me on my favorite songs, favorite member, etc. Somehow, the teacher decided to turn it into a show of hands game. First was “Who likes Arashi?” *almost everyone in the class raises their hands*. Next I asked who their favorite member was, again by show of hands. Matsujun was easily the most popular (unsurprisingly). Nino was a clear second place. Aiba got a few votes. Sho didn’t get any (weird. guess he’s not too popular with the kids?). When I got to Ohno though, one boy stood up and shouted “I like Ohno!!”. Lol. I think Oh-chan would be pleased to know that he has at least one little champion out there. Doesn’t he complain that he’s only popular with the Obaa-sans?

Today after work, I stopped by a book store and purchased the October issue of Myojo. I was debating whether or not to do it up until the very end, because that’s the magazine that brought us Jin demonstrating his poor decision-making skills with regards to his hair. However, I have decided to graciously look past that, because KAT-TUN’s section is just full of super duper cute pictures of Kame. Look!

“Hmmm. Did I leave the oven on?”
Close up. I don’t know why, but I kind of love how he usually paints just a few of his fingernails black.
So pretty in profile.
LOL! My favorite of the bunch

I went ahead and replaced poodle-hair Jin with an actual poodle. I can’t have anything distracting me from shy Kame in the corner there.
BTW. Kamenashi has also been named “Best Jeansist” for the 2nd year in a row. I guess having a feminine waistline and a preference for going comando is good for something other than inspiring pervy fanfiction.
Last ones. These are clearly not from this month’s Myojo, but they are some of the cutest pics I’ve ever seen of baby Junior Kame.

What a little Cutie-Pants!

PS. Quick Arashi note. Truth/Kaze has sold 63,535 copies in its second week, bringing the total total to 530,823 copies sold, as reported by Oricon. 500K+! Awesome. The single is now sitting pretty as the top seller in Japan for 2008 so far.
