KAT-TUN 2 Me

Just got back from a trip to Kyoto!

I ended up buying that magazine with the awesome Akame shot in it. I can now confirm that it’s 100% real.

Queen of Pirates concert DVD is going to be released on New Years Day. On the one hand, YAY! I was starting to get worried at the lack of DVD announcement. On the other hand, NO! I will still be in the states for Christmas on New Years day, and I won’t be able to buy it until I get back a few days later!

Finally, some magazine did a poll for “Most Kissable Lips” , showing pictures of a bunch of celebrity’s lips (not the rest of their faces). Jin got second place!! Want to know the most hilarious part? They were polling guys, and Jin is the only man to make the top 10 list. LOLOL. Jin’s lips are turning the men of Japan gay without them realizing.

This week’s episode of Arashi no Shukudai-kun was so cute! They were doing an “Okane ga Nai” special because, apparently, they’ve spent too much money buying expensive food for the guests, so some guys removed the entire set (presumably to sell to to fangirls), there was no guest, and Aiba was in charge again. Oh how I love it when Aiba is in charge of Arashi no Shukudai-kun. Such a little ball of skittery energy. Anyway, the episode was especially good because there was no guest, I think. I really don’t care what Grauve Model X or Comedian Y has to say. I watch ANS to see Arashi! Preferably Arashi being gay affectionate all over the place, which is exactly what you get with this episode.

Anyway, I have been inspired to make a few screen caps and a couple of .gifs, mostly featuring Nino because I wuv him.

Aiba attempts to introduce some cheap foods, which get mixed reviews. This section is particularly fun because Nino is hanging on Ohno most of the time.

At one point they were both off giggling on their own and Ogura-san had to snap at them to stop playing around.

Has there always been a bunny in fishnets at the back of the set?

Next, Aiba proposes a contest to see who can fall asleep the fastest. It turns out it’s difficult to fall asleep with a hyper Aiba-chan wandering around and chirping at you constantly. “Come on guys! You’ve really got to sleep! For reals! Are you sleeping yet? Huh? Are you??” Oh Aiba-chan… His attempts to hypnotize Nino are also met with minimal success.

Jun doesn’t even try to sleep, and starts reading manga. This displeases Aiba, who forces Jun to put his head in his lap (I know!), gently brushes away his hair (much to Jun’s annoyance), and starts prodding him in the ear with something. How that’s supposed to help him sleep is completely beyond me.

Nope!

Then Aiba gets the bright idea that Nino doing a magic trick for Sho will make him fall asleep. Okay…Unfortunately when he’s done, Nino’s a little bit reluctant to go back to bed…

What a brat.

In the end, the winner is Ogura-san, who buried his head under the covers and successfully drowned out Aiba’s noisiness.

It was also asked that I talk a bit about KAT-TUN’s inter-group relationship. Well, all I have to offer is my opinions based on what I’ve read and observed, but here’s my take on things. First of all, KAT-TUN is not Arashi. Arashi routinely describe each other as family. KAT-TUN routinely describe eachother as… coworkers, because mostly, that’s all they are. They freely admit that they used to fight a lot when the group was first formed, and while their inter-group relationship has certainly improved since then, they are not, nor will they ever be, “bestest friends”. Some members are closer and more likely to hang out together or chat outside of work than others, but it seems that in all cases the individual members’ close friends lie outside the group. One point of special interest and much speculation is the relationship between Kamenashi and Akanishi. What we know is that they were quite close during their Junior days but had some sort of falling out shortly before KAT-TUN debuted. Now, as far as I can tell, they have an off and on sort of friendship, oscillating between not being on speaking terms and casual friendship. There are some who believe that they are hiding a romantic relationship, but in my opinion, no offense intended, that’s utter bull shit. I’d like it to be true as much as the next fangirl, but wanting something to be true doesn’t make it so, and the evidence is overwhelmingly against it.

I guess the point is, I wouldn’t worry too much about KAT-TUN’s group dynamics. Arashi’s close friendship is one of their defining features, and that’s great for them. In KAT-TUN’s case, it’s not so important, and that’s fine too. There are a lot of other things to enjoy about KAT-TUN even if they don’t like to hold hands and have slumber parties.

Turns out that two KAT-TUN members will be appearing in dramas next season. The rumors are true. Kame is going to star in a drama called “Kami no Shizuka”! KAT-TUN is popping up all over the place lately, and I’m loving it.

I know there are some pending download requests. I plan to get to those tomorrow, so no worries.

It’s lovely and sad! I’m glad though, because a sugary happy Christmas song just wouldn’t suit KAT-TUN. I like the piano part, and I’m looking forward to the PV. Expect to see the guys looking pretty and forlorn in the snow somewhere.

Whew. I have been quite busy and then quite sick and then quite busy again, but I’ve managed to start my group and member profiles. So far only a general overview of Johnny’s and KAT-TUN’s profile are up. You can find them under the new “Artist Profiles” link on the upper right. Much more to come soon!

And by the way, it seems that Nakamaru is going to be in a drama with Massu of NewS. Cool. KAT-TUN seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth after their concert tour ended, but all of a sudden it’s like BAM! Jin in a movie! New single! Maru in a drama! Yay!
