KAT-TUN 2 Me

As 2008 comes to a close, it’s time for a good ol’ year end “Best of” post. It’s no secret that I have a heavy bias toward some Johnny’s groups, so yes, KAT-TUN and Arashi dominate this, but some other Johnny’s groups do make an appearance.

Best Dance-

DUES, KAT-TUN. Pretty easy choice here. That dance rocks. Period.

Worst Dance-

One Love, Arashi. That shit’s fruity as hell.

(Dis)honorable Mention- Happy Birthday, NewS. Haven’t we seen that dance before? It wasn’t any more exciting last time.

Best B-side-

How to Fly, Arashi. I like it better than most of the A-sides this year.

Best PV-

Summer Time, NewS. I always say that the best PV’s are the ones with the guys just improving and messing around. This one was especially sweet and funny.

Honorable Mention- DUES, KAT-TUN. Epic. Bonus points for the unintentional humor of Jin playing chess. I wanted to give them first, but in the end, I just enjoyed the NewS PV more.

Best Album Song-

Hell No, KAT-TUN. Hell yes!

Best “Other” Johnnys Single (Not KT or Arashi)-

Mayonaka no Shadow Boy, HSJ. This song kind of put them on the map for me. They’d been just a little too immature and generic sounding up until this. They’re still total jailbait though.

OMG the Queen of Pirates concert DVD is out and I can’t buy it because I’m not in Japan right now!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve had to settle for watching what I can find on youtube instead. *sobs*  My early opinions go something like this, “Damn they’re hot” followed by lots of drooling. Anyway, I want to do a nice review, but not until I can rip some high quality video, screencaps, and .gifs to accompany it. I’ll be back in Japan on January 3rd, and I plan to buy the DVD asap after that. I hope you don’t mind the tardiness of my upcoming QOP post.

In the meantime, I’m working on a Best of 2008 post since I can do that from home. Look forward to that, and for those of you who already have the QOP DVD in your posession….I hate you.

I have been so bad about updating this lately! I’ve got a good excuse though. See, I was flying back from Japan, and then I immediately went to Disney World with my family for over a week (I got home less than an hour ago), and now it’s almost Christmas. Phew.

Maybe I’ll have time for a proper update tomorrow. I just wanted to put a shout out, for the records of this blog, that KAT-TUN is going to have a new single “One Drop” to be the theme for Kame’s new drama. Horray! No long wait this time!

Oricon has published the chart of the top selling singles of 2008, and once again, Johnny’s have made out like bandits. Arashi in particular has had an incredible year (but we already knew that), taking both 1st and 2nd place with Truth and One Love! WOW! What an incredible accomplishment. Not only that, but all four of their singles this year fall within the top twelve. KAT-TUN was the only other Johnny’s group to grace the top 10, with both DUES and Lips. Kanjani came close with Musekinin hero at number 11.

Let’s look at where all the Johnnys ranked in on the top 30 list. I’m only listing Johnnys here, but you can view the whole list on the Oricon website HERE

Hi! It’s been a while, huh? I’ve had some friends staying over at my apartment, and they’ve kept me pretty busy.

Since the “making of’s” can be kind of long, like I did with the DUES ‘Making Of’ I’ve attempted to pare the White X-mas ‘Making of’ down to its most amusing moments. The good thing about this ‘making of’ is that everyone seems to be in a good mood and friendly with each other. The bad thing is that they didn’t do much group shooting, so you don’t get to see the guys interacting very much.

I’ll have to admit. The majority of this is Koki making a fool of himself. This is exactly why I love Koki. He just seems to have so much fun with whatever he happens to be doing. I also want to give props to Junno, because he’s looking damn fine during the PV/making of. Finally, the subs on this video are done by NEWShFAN, not me.
