Alright, alright, I’ve heard your pleas, your screams of agony, “Would you please tell us the new blog title already?!? I can’t live without knowing it for one more day!” Well, there you have it. The new blog title unveiled. Yeah, I gave up and went with a Nujabes song title. Psssh, it’s fine. It does its job.
More importantly, I’ve written an About-page for the blog that I’ll now shamelessly copy-paste here.
Beat Laments The World is the title of a sweet tune by Nujabes. It is also the name of this blog of like-minded individuals — metalheads, as it just so happens — who more often than not write about things related to Japan, whether it be the music, entertainment, language, or girls’ asses.
The blog was started by yours truly in late 2007 as The H!P Opinions of a Metalhead. As is obvious, the subject matter then centered mainly around Hello! Project and Japanese idols. In early 2007, tired of my musical diet consisting almost solely of metal and progressive rock, I was craving something new. Around that time I became acquainted with Tsunku-produced earcandy. It was just what the music doc ordered, and I started this blog to share my thoughts on said awesomeness.
With delrey28 and skald joining as co-bloggers in June of 2009, the site was renamed as The Three Metalheads. It was known as such until January 2011, when Krv followed and brought the total of writers up to four. A poll for a new blog title was held and a variety of fine options such as Burning Churches With Tsunku, Still Reminiscing Over That Hazy Night We Shared With Sharan Q, Four Boys’ Sexy Fun Time Blog, and Metal Tits were considered. In the end and quite miraculously, all of them were deemed complete shit. Instead, a Nujabes song title was quite shamelessly ripped off.
Future
When this site came to life, the original idea was to make a Hello! Project blog where I wanted to emphasize and portray the metalhead essence — that I think, write and speak like a metalhead — whatever the hell that really means. My hope was that a like-minded audience could perhaps identify with it more than the slew of similar blogs which were often authored by 14-year-old girls. (Not that there’s anything wrong with 14-year-old girls per se. Uhh. I mean, 14-year-old girls are fine, but I can think of other things I’d rather do than read one’s writing. Errr… I’m not a pedophile!)
The idea has changed over time. Though some of us remain fans of Hello! Project and will want to write on the subject, the scope of the site will start to expand from being focused solely around the Japanese idol realm, to encompassing everything Japanese as a whole (with hints of music from elsewhere now and then). Don’t be surprised if upcoming posts include chatter on not only H!P, but J-drama, manga, Japanese language learning, or alcohol-fueled rants on nothing of the above.
However, the metalhead essence as originally envisioned when the site opened remains unchanged. That is what it is still about to this day. You know… saying “fuck” in between all the bikini shots.
