Top 5 sexiest H!P songs

With this post I’m starting a series of favorites posts concentrating on H!P songs. There will be a total of 15 categories in which I will rank the songs or specific elements in them. I have all 15 categories thought out already, but I’d rather not reveal them all yet. But, for example, you will get the usual rankings like ”best ballads“ and also something maybe a it more unusual like ”most epic compositions“. Also, the categories have been thought up in such a way that there should not be any of the same songs in different categories. At least not too many. So… there will hopefully be enough variation to keep you readers entertained!
Starting right off, in this first post I will introduce to you my top 5 of H!P’s sexiest songs. This one was actually surprisingly difficult to make. While H!P definitely has plenty of songs aiming to be sexy, for me it rarely really works. I usually just dislike it if it’s forcibly made sexy. However, I did manage to gather up 5 of the best ones nonetheless. Note that I won’t bring the PV’s into consideration at all in this one; if I did, Biyuuden and Maki’s later material would surely take all positions in this one. :)
5th: Morning Musume - Memory Seishun no Hikari: Alright, so early Momusu isn’t really the sexiest thing ever, if you know what I mean. Still, this song pulls it off quite nicely with those intricate vocal harmonies and excellent composition. While I’m not a fan of rap or rapping in general, I’m glad they decided to at least get some black-sounding guy to do it and not make any of the girls do it. Call me crazy, but the girls’ attempts at rapping always sound surprisingly un-sexy.
4th: DEF.DIVA – Suki Sugite Baka Mitai: Interesting choice, eh? Alright, it isn’t really sexy in the conventional way I guess, but it just gives this image of powerful women performing it, which is.. sexy… in a way.. maybe. Well, I think so anyway, especially after seeing Ayaya’s monster of a solo performance of it on the GAM tour DVD (which I’ve attached here). Really, she absolutely owns the song! I think it’s better than any performance than DEF.DIVA ever did of it together and reminds you that even if pretty ballads are all she sings now, she can still do the more up-tempo stuff too… both of them flawlessly. Hmm, I can’t really describe this one’s sexiness. Just listen to this Ayaya take on the song and see if you get what I mean.
3rd: GAM – Aijou Oasis: Ah, the pair who, in my opinion, does the sexy thing in H!P like no other; the unit whose name also apparently means girls with ”attractive legs” (I can’t say I disagree), the Great Aya and Miki. If you read my post where I ranked the top 15 H!P songs of 2007, you’ll already know how I love this song. In that post however, I didn’t mention the overwhelming sexiness of it at all. While it doesn’t showcase itself quite that well in this live performance, it’s very much audible in the recorded version… or at least I think so. And yeah, it’s also pretty nice to listen to anyways as this unit does feature two of the single most talented vocalists of H!P, like I’ve said before…
2nd: GAM – Melodies: Another one by the lovely GAM. And alright… I said I wouldn’t take PV’s into consideration with this ranking, but damn! I mean, damn! I’m going to make an exception here, because this one really takes it further than any other PV before or after it. I mean, I’d like to be as subjective as possible and only consider the songs, but the sexiness of this particular PV has simply corroded my brain. Easily the sexiest and most pervy PV H!P has ever created, and man am I glad it was of something featuring these two girls! Somehow the PV still retains its pureness and is not dirty-sexy like Maki or smutty like Biyuuden… even if it does show a breathtaking amount of skin (and legs…), a healthy dosage of body contact and Miki and Ayaya feeding each other different foodstuffs, among other things. Needless to say, as a person who at the tender age of 13 actually asked his mom to get TATU’s first album for him for Christmas, just for thinking it might have ”nice pictures” of the girls in the booklet (no, I didn’t tell her that part :)), this all makes me very happy. And if you were wondering; no, I don’t recall the booklet having anything too special in it. What a disappointment. I did like the album though. :) But uh, the song itself… uh… hmm. Blah, just watch the damn PV already!
But, I’m going to be absolutely honest and write a sentence here that is probably more true than anything I’ve ever written in my blog before:
There is not a whole lot in this world I’d rather do than watch Miki and Ayaya kiss.
Okay, I lied: I’d rather watch them undress. And then start kissing again.
1st: Tanpopo – Motto: “What?!” I hear you ask. ”Something with Iida of all people in first place?! Are you out of your mind?!” And to you I shall answer: Pfft, shut up. Ayappe makes up for her! But yeah, congrats to her for the baby thing! :)
One could consider this a sort of precursor to later Maki stuff and Biyuuden… and personally, I think this rather than those two REALLY demonstrates How To Use SEXY. So much so, in fact, that I think this is pretty much Tanpopo’s best song overall, and that’s saying a lot as I love (especially early) Tanpopo. While the PV isn’t really all that sexy as it goes for the “cool” image more, doing the “off-focus thing” a lot and displaying them dancing/walking on the streets, standing in the subway, etc. (though it does have some sexy parts, too, in that shot with them against the blue background and wearing dresses while standing against the window + some subtle and sneaky shots of their legs and chests), the song itself just oozes sexiness, but not at all in any tasteless or dirty way. I get a sort of foggy early morning/late night vibe from it, like it’s very hazy and dreamy. And that part the PV does capture quite well. And what about the lyrics? ”A girl feels love with her body / All of it, all of it, all of it / Yes, I’m not being truthful / I don’t say it out loud / More, more, more” & ”You can have your way with me, hold me / Even if you force me, be gentle with me” The lyrics sure aren’t all that subtle, as you can see. :) The girls do a fantastic job to bring those lyrics to life, with a very sufficient amount of sensual vocals and the usual “aah‘s” and moans, heh.
But anyway, my point is that, DAMN early Tanpopo was awesome. Loved those three together, I did.
I knew this song would be at 1st place before I even thought of the 2nd to 5th place songs. Actually, the reason I wanted to start this whole 15 category ranking thing in the first place was because of this song. While I was listening to it, I thought “DAMN, this song sounds… sexy! So sexy, in fact, that I should make a post about it somehow on my blog… hmm.” And thus I came up with the idea of ranking the top 5 sexiest songs. But, then I realized I wanted to rank even more songs by some specific quality in them… and ended up with 15. And yeah, here I am.
Next time it’s time to rank the craziest/funniest H!P songs. Look forward to it!
When i saw the title i just thought “Motto, motto, motto, it has to be” and i was right! I have never really got into any tanpopo post 1rst gen.
Yep. It’s been three years since I made this post, but there’s still nothing that tops Motto!
who needs all these kimagure princesses! I can’t bring myself to like that song, it makes me cringe. XD
I liked Kimagure Princess, I just didn’t find the song sexy… But I did, however, appreciate the asses.
Thinking about it, when you posted this I was still in primary school!
And I was still only a little bit of an alcoholic. Strange how time flies!
