A commemoration to all the good folks behind Beat Laments The World.

This post is a reprisal of sorts, a look back on, what, a thousand years of FAKSM’s? It should be more, granted, but what can you do? We’re busy people.
Here’s my top 5 past-FAKSM’s and some thoughts. How’d I come up with these? You could ask me tomorrow but I probably won’t remember why due to my drunken nature. You know how Curiosity just landed on Mars? Same sort of science-magic was worked here (albeit a tad more complex). Let’s start.
Who or what is God? Applying some good ol’ Occam and you come up with nothing. Apply it to Nile though and you come up with the word unbelievable. Nile is unbelievably good. Saying otherwise makes you an unbeliever and those are stoned to death in some parts of the world. Why no. 5? Seemed about right. 2 + 3 makes 5. 23 is the number of Tetragrammaton, which means God in judeo-christian mythologies. That makes this paragraph valid. I make no sense. Let’s move on.
4. Nile’s ”Lashed to the Slave Stick” by delrey28.
Okay. You might think this is me being lazy. That is not the case. Nile is good. Seriously. Take a listen. You might learn something. Like, for example, doing bad deeds nets you the stick. In other words, you go to HELL. There you, and I quote, ”are fettered and bound with leather straps. Helpless, doomed, wailing in unendurable torment.” Unendurable torment. Jeez. We wouldn’t want that, would we?
What to make of this song, now. I urge you to take a listen. This song encompasses everything that got me into prog years ago. Sense of wonder? Check. Unpredictability? Check. Complexity? Check. Makes you jizz in your pants? Damn right it does. At this moment this hits all the right chords. A FAKSM, no doubt. If you haven’t experienced a new musical horizon in a long time, here’s something to ponder about.
2. Unchain’s ”Precious” by Henkka.
Henkka, if you’re reading this, you might be wondering why I chose Unchain instead of Opeth? Maybe you’re not. Maybe you’re just reading this. Not really comprehending anything yet. Just reading. Reading. And reading. With a hand in your pants. Reading. Maybe you’re as drunk as I am. Maybe not. You’re still hopefully reading. Hell, maybe you skipped the whole thing, just to see if there’s any sort of climax to this ramble. Maybe not. I am getting quite drunk though. This is all rather stupid. But! Unchain is great! It makes me happy. It’s damn catchy too. Thanks, mate. No further comment.
1. ”When Momoiro Clover Z Go Death Metal” by Krv (figures).
This exists? What is this? This is what I’m going to play during the holidays. This is crazy. It’s crazy, but I have to admit it’s also really good. I mean, like, really, really good. Just goes to show how much I know about music. Japan, you rock my world.

And that’s it. Instead of struggling through another FAKSM, I opted to promote the past one’s because I’m sure some of them have been unfairly overlooked by some. I know I did. They say better late than never, right? Take a listen. Discard your expectations. Plunge forth into the unknown.
I enjoyed your list as well as reasoning for each respective song. Unendurable torment does indeed not sound very pleasant. And indeed I was reading. I wasn’t drunk, but I did have my hand in my pants. 23 years in, and I’ve still yet to find a more worthwhile form of post-shower entertainment. And Unchain is some catchy stuff, isn’t it! I still have the fondest of memories for that song and album… perfect summer music.
I like that you were drinking on a Monday, by the way. Two thumbs up.
I quite enjoyed it as well. This post was one of those drunken spur of the moment type deals and the ensuing process a blurry haze. But I’m glad you liked it! I had my hand in my pants a few times too during it. It’s just the way we were built I guess.
I’ve been having a vacation for the past two weeks so drinking on a monday is only encouraged :)
You actually just gave me an idea for another FAKSM. Dammit :P
