Lost Wing has moved off of wordpress.com to a self-hosted Wordpress blog. Hopefully this gives Megumi and Tsuki more leeway with their site. Good luck to them!

Three blogs tackle technopop artist Aira Mitsuki’s first album, C.O.P.Y, and I’m honestly amazed that they all found so much to say about it as they did. Not that there’s anything wrong with the album, but technopop can be hard to write about, especially if you don’t have the ear for it (if you find yourself zoning out or dozing off while listening, I guess), so kudos to the bloggers for being able to scrutinize every track without resorting to “it’s got a good beat, it’s fun, I liked it” over and over again. Everybody seems to enjoy it in the end, although the level of enthusiasm varies–Megumi (of Lost Wing) makes sure to note that she feels Aira’s success is due to a good producer, while Selryam hands out a fair grade of B to the release. So if this is your kind of thing, you’ve got three reviews to pick from, and a ton of different opinions to read.

Super Junior - Don’t Don!

Recommended reading. Megumi does a track-by-track review of the second SuJu album, finding some good qualities to it but overall is unimpressed by what she considers a typical Kpop boy band.

There’s a good deal of sarcasm on display, but it’s kept in check somewhat. I think if this review was dripping with it, the review’d be even more fun, but that could just be me.

Truthfully, I get a little overwhelmed when it is this many reviews in such a short itme. Of the albums that Megumi reviewed, not much stood out. That probably made it easier to cover all of them. The only exception to that is L.D.K. Lounge Designers Killer, which is loaded with synths that please Meugmi.

Megumi of Lost Wing reviews capsule’s 2nd album, “Cutie Cinema Replay,” finding the first half of the album preferable to the second half.

Megumi of Lost Wing reviews both SNoW’s 2007 album Hatsuyuki and Tommy☆angels’s 2003 single, You’ll Be My Boy.

Perfume - GAME [Debut Studio Album] (Amai Wana)

Amaiyume of Amai Wana tackles GAME and it gets Amaiyume’s approval. Secret Secret is one of the favorites here and that is something that I think a lot of people will say. There is a downside to the album though, as Amaiyume finds that some of the tracks “get monotonous and lack variety.”

Megumi of Lost Wing has a different tone while reviewing the album. While Megumi is relatively positive to it as a whole, it is the work of Yasutaka Nakata that gets the credit. Megumi says that Perfume sings “robotically and half-heartedly.”

I think what I got from bringing these two reviews together, as well as other reviews of GAME, is that the album just is not going to be for everyone. Furthermore, I must be the only person in the world that likes the song “take me take me.” And I have suspect reasons for enjoying that one.

MEG - BEAM

Megumi does a track-by-track review of Meg’s first album to be produced by capsule’s Nakata. She likes most of what Nakata accomplishes, but is dismayed at Meg’s singing.

Monkey Majik - Sora wa Marude

Megumi provides a track-by-track review of this 2007 album, finding it well varied and enjoyable overall despite some lapses in repetition.

HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR - ROCK PIT

Megumi has a track by track review of the Okinawan rock band’s fourth album, finding it entertaining but nothing out of the ordinary.

Step It Up feat. BoA - by Tsuki

Tsuki starts a new feature, noting artists who are on the wane (Step It Up) as well as those at their peak (Game On). The series starts with an assessment of BoA ande what she can do to get out of her perceived rut.
