Justin Isis: The IW Interview

Collecting all four parts of our interview with the author of I Wonder What Human Flesh Tastes Like, now with photos!

And a question to you readers: who else in our community should IW interview, and why?

Cake Day Countdown! Day 1 – Open Thread Discussion

The contest entries are being judged, the award nominations are being tabulated, the first of the auction listings are being prepared, and cake is being cooked across our little community. Looking forward to Intl Wota’s fifth year, we want to ask the reader: what do you want to see? What kind of coverage interests you most? Would you want more original content of any sort? An expanded presence in social media? Share your thoughts in the comments, and we’ll respond as best as we can!

Charity Roundup Post

Donations How Much Did They Give? (Pure Idol Heart)
AKB48 donates 500 million yen (Melos no Michi)
AKB48 encourages you to donate (Melos no Michi)
Johnny’s Entertainment plans energy-cutting measures, charity CD (Corrected) (Tokyograph)
Hamasaki Ayumi continues support for disaster relief with 30 million yen donation (Tokyograph)
JYP Entertainment to donate $300,000 USD towards Japanese disaster relief (allkpop)
SM Entertainment donates $1 million USD to Japanese disaster relief (allkpop)

There has been a huge outpouring of support for the victims of the Japan tragedy, and here are just a few of the highlights from the entertainment industry. Money is being raised by many charities, huge donations from individuals and companies are being given, and there are efforts to reduce energy consumption. Like the rest of the nation, the entertainment industry is slowly recovering towards a semblance of normalcy, but that doesn’t mean support for these causes should ease up. A great deal of work lies ahead for Japan, and they can use whatever help they can get – including, as the AKB complex points out, from fans throughout the world.

Cake Day Countdown! (Resumed) Day 4 – Justin Isis Interview, Part 2; Matsujun Spaghetti

Justin Isis Interview, Part Two
2011 Cake Day Contest: I Wonder What Idol Flesh Tastes Like
2010 IW Awards – Nominees and Voting (Voting Open 3/5-3/23!)

In this installment of the interview, Justin talks about his literary influence, the difficulty of labels, and the way his stories connect.

And as a special treat, Murr’s non-qualifying entry for the I Wonder What Idol Flesh Tastes Like contest:

Matsumoto Jun Spaghetti is something that’s only found in fancy five-star restaurants. It’s delicious whether put together with quality ingredients or just thrown together with what you could find around the kitchen; it’s delicious, but I only crave it every once in a while.

If you haven’t yet voted for the IW Awards or submitted a recipe, there’s still plenty of time! Not in the cosmic sense of eons and millennia, but in the hours and minutes sense of jotting something down and sending it our way. In the cosmic scheme of things, all we are is Dustin The Wind.

Cake Day Countdown! Day 8 – Justin Isis Interview, Part 1; Chinen Wings

Justin Isis Interview, Part One
2011 Cake Day Contest: I Wonder What Idol Flesh Tastes Like
2010 IW Awards – Nominees and Voting (Voting Open 3/5-3/16!)

The first part of our interview with Justin Isis, the author of I Wonder What Human Flesh Tastes Like, is now up! Justin tells us a little bit about himself, a little bit about his former co-blogger Edmund “Swifty” Yeo, and why he’s interested in Japan.

Also, here’s another non-entry to the Idol Flesh contest, again courtesy of me? After all, you can enter more than once, and this one’s too tasty to hide:

Made with chunks of flesh carved oh-so-gently from his arms, Honey Mustard Yuri Chinen Wings are tender, tangy, savory mouthfuls of Hey! Say! goodness that capture the smoldering, still-underage sexiness of this young Johnny’s star. Serve with crispy french fries and steamed asparagus for a memorable meal.

You have till Monday, March 14, to share your own recipes and win some great prizes! Also, don’t forget to vote in the Intl Wota Awards – though unlike the contest, you can only enter once. (We ain’t Chicago.)

Cake Day Countdown! Day 9 – Momoko Cheesecake

2011 Cake Day Contest: I Wonder What Idol Flesh Tastes Like
2010 IW Awards – Nominees and Voting (Voting Open 3/5-3/16!)

Cake Day is on March 18, and we’ll be counting it down with some bonus articles and surprises. The IW staff is going to share what their own entries would be in the I Wonder What Idol Flesh Tastes Like contest – that is, if they were eligible to enter and not judges. Consider them inspiration for your own recipes, since it’s certainly not competition. So to start things off, here’s what my own entry would be for Momoko Cheesecake:

Tsugunaga Momoko Cheesecake would be a tasty, delightful treat – though just like Momoko herself, too much cheesecake can make me violently ill. I’d use her expressive eyebrows for flavoring, her tears for a bite of bitterness, and the kiss of her lips for that pungently narcotic sweetness which is uniquely hers.

Remember, the contest deadline is this Monday, March 14, and the deadline for voting in the Intl Wota awards is Wednesday, March 16.

A Dream Come True

Morning Musume OG members announce “dream” team, album, 2 tours (Tokyograph)

Well, for some people, myself included. I’m super excited about this. MM OG in an OFFICAL group together?! An album?! Not one but TWO tours?! Can it get any better?! … Well, yes, actually. The second disc could be rerecordings as well, BUT I’M NOT COMPLAINING. Yuuko~

I’m really excited about this. Almost ridiculously so. It really is like a dream come true. Are you excited about it?!
